Can someone explain Rubberstamping?

I've searched high and low for somewhat reasonably priced invites for my RD with no luck. I really want invites with cherry blossoms on them. I found a great site that has a cherry blossom rubber stamp (I guess like you'd use for scrapbooking) but I don't understand how it works. It is easy to do? I don't get how you make different colors? I stamped my STD's. very time consuming, but worth it. I stamped the image in a tinted ink, then I poured embossing powder over the ink, shook off the excess and then used a heat gun on the powder to melt it so it looks like thermography. You can do the same with your cherry blossoms.
