Until now I had never heard of either!

Our catholic church would NOT allow that. If youre getting married in a catholic church- I would check first!

edited to say- we did the couples prayer instead of the hands ceremony.

You do it when you normally would do the lighting of the untiy candle, the sand ceremony is to replace that... I don't think your suppose to say anything, but I'm sure you could come up with a little something special to say, while taking turns pouring the sand....
Here's a pic of mine.. I ordered it last week, so I should be Getting it soon!!!!

i love your containers, where did you order them from? also, is their something youre going to use to close them, like a top or something, for safe keeping?

Go to IKEA to get cheap glass containers.

there are all different versions of the hand ceremony too. We did this:

Hand Ceremony

Melissa and Sean, please face each other and take each other’s hands, so you may see the gift that they are to you.

These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and vibrant with love, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise your love and commitment to each other all the days of your life.

I got it off Ebay.. I forgot the vendors name off hand...

wanted to let you know I did the hands ceremony instead of the sand ceremony :)

It was nice:)
