Same situation I had...no one on FH's side ever heard of an eparty, meanwhile on my side its pretty much mandatory to have one. It worked out great, everyone came. We were expecting gifts from his side but everybody gave something. Most of all, everyone came and had a blast. It was so much fun seeing 2 different sides interact.

Not uncommon. To be honest I hadn't heard of one until I came on this site. My brother had a party, but he actually got engaged at it. He had a tent and invited both sides of the family. Blind folded her, brought her into the backyard, took off the blindfold and there we all were and there he was on her knee. It was really sweet.

I hadn't really heard of anyone having an e-party. However, my parents think an eparty is unnecessrary (as well as some other relatives).

I just love an excuse to have a party for myself.

FH and I were discussing about an E-party as well...to be honest with you I am from Ecuador and in my country they go all out with the Engagement Party...then they have the Civil wedding ceremony AND reception and then....like a month after they have the Church Ceremony AND reception...it's crazy!!! i've been in this country since i was a little girl!! and I wasn't really into weddings until NOW lol...I actually don't want an E-party instead I want like an E-dinner just with the bridal party...because I just feel is more intimate in a sense...i love the E-party idea but is not me...I know some people might not know of an E-party but the point of an E-party is not to share gifts but rather to announce your future marriage and just bond with both families... this is my honest thought Like when FH proposed we were surprised with a dinner at a restaurant followed by a mini party at FH's home with cake and everything so for me that was more than enough..both of our families were there so it was perfect!...hope that you can have your E-party :)

both of our families felt an e-party to be unnecessary since we have been together for 8 years & everyone knows everyone. friends encouraged us to have one saying it will help pay for the cost of the wedidng but someone still has to pay for the e-party so we decided not to have one. whom ever wanted to send a gift or card sent it to our apartment & it was a great feeling to receive those.

Alot of people dont have them. I didnt want one but fh did. We decided not to since too many family parties were coming up and I would rather save the money for something else

My FH & fam had heard of it but I was surprized. His parents do live in a bubble about wedding things.
