can we talk about kitchen sponges....honestly...I hate them!

I've had mine a month...that's it....and it smells yucky! WHY?!???

Don't keep it in the sink when done (or when soaking a dish or pot). Squeeze it out and wash it out and let it dry on the dish drain.

I think you can also put them in the dishwasher to get the germies out, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I don't have a dw.

I do however buy scotch brand, I think they are the best.

I change mine every 2 weeks.

This is recommended. Germs build up on sponges very easily.

Definitely put them in the dishwasher (if you have one). The heat of the water kills the germs. Otherwise, replace them every few weeks. Regardless of what you do, def let them dry out completely.

yes they do. What you can do is then use that sponge to clean the floor with for another two weeks. Clean the sponge with amonia and then use it for the toilet or bathtub or kitchen floor, etc ...

Anything you are eating off of, I'd change often ...

Also, the same goes for lufah sponges in the bathroom ... bacteria, mold, mildew and germs grown very easily because the shower is damp ... keep your lufah outside of the shower area and make sure you change it once a month.

Don't want to put germies on your body! Bleh!

I throw mine out monthly

As for the spongie things in the bathrom I soak them in Peroxide once a month to get rid of germs.

For the truely skeeved out people who HATE sponges completely, like my aunt, who will wash her dishes with paper towels rather than reuse a sponge ... they now have dispoable rags.

I used them at my aunts house last week and they stayed soapy and cleaned a ton of dishes!

Sponges aren't allowed in my house... ewww they get so gross.

We use Dobie Pads instead and use one of those baskets that hangs on the inside of the sink to promote drying.
I put it through the DW every week and change it about every month.

For major wipe ups its paper towels or those disposable HandiWipes

I use a washcloth. If you put the sponge or washcloth in the microwave for one minute on high, they say it kills all the germs!

That's what I use too. I feel they clean better anyway.

They tested this woman's house and her kitchen sick has 6000 times more germs than her toilet!!!!! Her kitchen sponge is a YEAR old and the dishrag is THIRTY YEARS OLD!!!!!
