can you believe this?

can you believe this?

Girls, please help! I need a reasonably priced, good seamstress. I am just too afraid of David's Bridal based on what so many of you have said.

I just went to a seamstress who works out of her house. I got her number when I was buying my mother's dress. No joke, the place was unbelievably dirty, smelled horrendous (imagine rotting food), cluttered - straight out of Clean House. She threw my dress around - dragged it on the filthy floor. OMG it was horrible!

Worst of all, for a hem, one point bustle, and bra cups, she was charging $350. Fo rmy mother - who just needed a hem and straps, she wanted $200. All in cash. Is this reasonable? I told her (after she pinned!) that I had to think about it. The look of fury on her face! I just couldn't see me leaving my dress with her.

Please help!

I wish I could recommed someone but I don't know anyone. I left my dress at David's.
Just keep in mind no matter where you go in life there are dissatisfied customers. That is what makes a business.

OMG that price is INSANE! That is even higher than what David's would charge! Where do you live? I can recommend the seamstress that my girls used, she's in Centereach, though. Let me know!

I've heard nothing but good things about Ingrid's in East Setauket. Everyone absolutely raves about them. I haven't started my alterations yet but I would trust my dress to the person who hems my pants at my dry cleaner before I went to David's Bridal.
