Can you get arrested for...

Driving with an expired license? Or will they just ticket you?

I don't think they arrest you, but I would check the ny state dmv website. It will probably tell you.

Fresh from the DMV website....

If you use an expired driver license to drive and you get a traffic ticket, you will receive fines and penalties.

60 days or less after the expiration date: a fine of $25 to $40, plus state and local surcharges.
60 days or more after the expiration date: a fine of $75 to $300, plus state and local surcharges.

This happened to me this summer, when I got pulled over I didn't realize that DMV hadn't sent me my new license and it had expired. Even though I mailed in the renewal (because I had a change and you can't do that online) 6 weeks before!

I got a ticket. But the PO said if I had the new one or it came soon after to mail a copy with the ticket and it would be dismissed. The new license came about two days later, thankfully. DMV

I couldn't find my license so I appled for a new one and was driving with out for a MONTH!! I was so nervous! I looked for this thing for a week before I applyed for the new one and guess what??? I found the old one 2 days ago!!! $10.00 down the drain.
