I can't help it! I am crafty and everything I see I want! I just wonder if it is too much for the guests. What do you ladies think? Can you get out of hand with all the little touches? I mean the worst that could happen is people wouldn't realize or pay attention to them right?
I could see it now...'so can you believe so and so added all those stupid little things?? I mean how annoying'
And these are the things that keep me up at night. Besides the dreams I have where I get to the wedding and realize I forgot everything! from te cardbox to the cake topper! Anyone else with me????

I think its like what you said, I've seen 07 & 08 ers say that they spent so much time on things that no one noticed but as long as you are happy with em', go for it!

Re: Can you go over board with details??
The only thing I started was the candy bar. I started buying the jars and the scoops... but the list goes on for what I want..
All the things that i DIY i know no one will notice except for myself but i don't care as long as i love it lol. If you love the personal touches then i say go for it it's your wedding

Re: Can you go over board with details??
I'm trying to make a very concious effort not to go tooooooo nuts and keep the details at a minimum. Thankfully, now that my sister has a semi-professional printer, I can DIY a lot more things, like programs, my signature drink sign, favor tags if I do the almonds, etc.
But now I'm going to do cocktail napkins, and ribbon wands, and my venetian masks (which are MAD expensive, but I'll keep them forever), and lots of other ideas I'm having that is scaring me to death.

Re: Can you go over board with details??
the ideas are what get me! whatever.. like other people said.. the worst that could happen is people don't pay attention to them. I will know that they are there and that is what matters :)
If you need help with any details let me know! All I do is search on line for ideas and inspiration.

Re: Can you go over board with details??
DH and I really tried to stay away from too much stuff. I work long hours and I didn't want to get bogged down with extra, nor did we want to pay for anything extra, even DIY materials. We made our ceremony programs (only needed nice paper and a color cartridge for this) and not much else. We decided simpler was better, and it really did help the day before and the day of the wedding, because we didn't need to deal with anything. We dropped off a small box with the caterer a few days before the wedding with our bathroom basket, our programs, our yamakas, and our seating cards and the day of the wedding he put them out for us in the appropriate places. Not having extras really reduced stress that weekend because it was less stuff to keep track of and less things to go wrong.

Re: Can you go over board with details??
I did a lot of DIY and I've thought about this a lot too.
I feel like it's okay to do a lot of details but not okay to send people home with toooo much stuff.
We are doing a placecard holder that's a little trinket, a favor, photo share cards attached to a little tiny bag of candy, AND the hall has a post party cart that will be handing out snacks to people as they leave... Sometimes I feel like I should give out a shopping bag for the guests to tote all the junk home...
BUT a lot of DIY or personalized stuff like table numbers, aisle runner, etc I think is cool b/c it's pretty and not a burden to anyone.

Re: Can you go over board with details??
I'm a huge DIYer and I pay VERY close attention to details!!!!!!!!!!! There are people like me out there.... and you seem like one of them. And people like us do and will notice those little details.
I often hear people say that no one will notice all the little things they do blah blah... but I don't think that's always the case! All the other crafty people out there (the martha stewart types - you know who you are ) will ALL notice all the little things. Then there are the people who LOVE those things but can't do em themselves because they usually lack the patience or whatever (My MOH and some BM' are like this) and they too will notice those things.
To be honest with you... I even noticed when the place cards are hand written! I notice all the details... that's just how I operate.
And yes of course there are those who won't notice a thing. Most guys probably fall into this catergory too!
I don't think you can go overboard with the little details. All those details come together and make the overall feeling in the room lighter and happier. At least that's how I feel. I do think you want to limit some of the things you have the guests take home... you don't want them walking out with arm fulls of little trinkets.
My people will be taking home: pictures from the photobooth cocoa cones mayeb their placecard names (I'm doing something special for that) Matches? I'm also putting a rose in each car with a thank you tag on it (valet will do it) - but this they won't carry out

Re: Can you go over board with details??
I orignally started to do some DIY stuff just to save a few bucks...then as time went on and I started seeing more ideas, then I just kept on going. Check out my alubm..I have TONS of DIY...but I don't think its too much...it'll be spead out all over the place...so I'm not too worried about all of that.

Re: Can you go over board with details??
I'm not a DYI person at all so I won't be having too much details at the wedding.
I have spoken to some past brides and they have all told me ' Don't worry so much about the little details most of the guest won't even notice. The day is about you and FH'

Re: Can you go over board with details??
i am having a lot of little touches here and there for my wedding also. i am not at all great with crafty stuff so none is DIY! i am actually having a lot made and i dont think it is an issue and you will be suprised how many girls will notice these little touches at your wedding. it is not true when they say no one notices this, cause there are those who do notice this and look at every little thing you have there.. i am also like this, when i go to a wedding i check out everything and notice every single thing, so there are many out there like us! :)
i so would sit here and mention all my little touches that i am having for my wedding but ill be here forever cause i am just having sooooo much doneeee its not even funny.. so dont feel strange for doing that!!!!!!! you arent alone!!!!!! :)
