Heading to wedding in NJ in Nov. at The Graycliff....and they are very nice.

Website: The Graycliff

ETA: this is in northern NJ...and one pretty neat thing is that they post a 'Wedding Cancellation' date page on their website, for brides who might want to grab up a good deal.

Not sure where yet. Just closer to NYC since that is where most of the guests are coming from.

I actually looked at a bunch of halls because originally we were going to get married in NJ. In addition to the ones listed above:

Indian Trail Club in Franklin Lakes - my friend just got married there in June and it was amazing

Stony Hill Inn - very nice, great food - only negative was that it's right off of Route 80, but you can barely tell from the Inn

The Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge - GORGEOUS. We actually wanted to have it there, but the price was a little more than we wanted to spend and it was a little further than we wanted family to have to drive

Brownstone - great food - the only problem is that it's in Patterson. Granted it's in the north part, but you wouldn't want people getting lost going to/from the reception.

I saw a few more, so if you have any questions about specific halls or aress feel free to FM me.

Crystal Plaza (or Palace, can't remember exactly) It's in Livingston on Northfield Avenue. Very nice, one wedding at a time. We almost booked there (live in NJ), but they couldn't accomodate our overly huge wedding.

The Manor in West Orange is really nice, but from what I know, they are a bunch of weddings at the same time there.

Try looking in Jersery City, Hoboken and Weehawken.
- Arthur's Landing
- The Chart House
- Hyatt in Jersey City (it's right on the Hudson, gorgeous views!!!)

Re: Can you please recommend nice halls in NJ?

yup!! i live in NJ... DH was in a wedding last week at florentine gardens, and it was INCREDIBLE!!!
everything was top notch- they had the ceremony outside in the garden area, the coctail hour was incredible with all kinds of food, and the room was really big- it was florentines old ballroom, so its a decent size room.
the ballroom itself is awesome! windows on 3 sides that look out to the garden, a balcony where you can throw the bo-k off of...
the COOLEST thing though was that the wedding was during the day- we went into the ballroom, the light was coming in teh windows, etc.... THEN, the DJ annouced for us to find our tables and all the sudden, the lights started going dim and the shades started automatically coming down on the windows to make it all dark in the room for the their entrances so they could have the cool spotlights and laser lights and stuff. they also have a screen for the photo montage, and if you get their video package they will do a few minute video recap of the day at the end of the reception..
LOL i probably sound like i work there or something, but it really was an incredible place... definitely worth checking into for your friend

Re: Can you please recommend nice halls in NJ?

It depends on what you want.

I've been to weddings at the both the Venetian and Florentine Gardens.

The Venetian usually has more than one event at a time and it's in a not so nice area of Garfield, NJ. I was just at a wedding there in August (FH was Best Man) and although the food is good, I'm just not that big of a fan of the place. Also, my cousin had her reception there back in 1998. I remember it being better then, but still kind of 'wedding factory-ish'.

Florentine Gardens is in a beautiful town called River Vale (where my family lives) and another cousin was married there (I was Bridesmaid and they treat the bridal party very very well). It's more private (only one wedding at a time) and has very lovely grounds and amazing food! The Chilean Sea Bass is exceptionally good!!

So, I would definitely suggest Florentine Gardens over The Venetian. River Vale is very close to NYC. About 20 minutes to the GWB.

I definitely second the comments of ML110! Just tell your friend to go to Florentine Gardens. I think it's the nicest place in the area and easy to find.

I was just at a wedding this past weekend at the Seasons. It was beautiful! I was in the bridal party and I can honestly say that they catered to the bride and groom's every need.
FM me if you want details...
