Can you please share approx how much your RD is per person?

FH's parents have never actually come out and offered to host the dinner, but they HAVE mentioned that 'its tradition that the groom's parents have the RD, right?'

FH has asked his parents about the RD several times - we have to meet with our church to go over the rules before we schedule the rehearsal, and we're trying to determine when to set the rehearsal for. It'll either be the Friday before (1 week before the wedding), but that may make getting a restaurant expensive, or difficult....OR the Monday or Tuesday before (4 or 3 days before the wedding)...

FSIL was married 5 years ago, and because her groom's family is non-existent, FILs hosted the RD at their house with heroes and salads, etc. It was nice for her, but honestly, not at all what FH and I would like for our RD. (The words 'chinese buffet' have been thrown around, too...)

We're only expecting about 22-24 people, so it shouldn't be anything too crazy. We'd prefer to stick with beer, wine, and soda.

It looks like we have to be prepared to pay for this ourselves if we'd like it done a particular way - just to be safe. I'm trying to determine what to budget.

Would anyone mind sharing their price per person, what you're getting, etc?

I'm between Northport and Smithtown, so I'm considering a nice family style meal at La Famiglia in Smithtown (Tuesday night would work out best for this place) or I've heard great things about the Garden Grill in Smithtown, or Nocello's in Northport, or maybe something in the Commack area....I don't know!

we paid 30$ at Cafe Testarossa for a Tues night...

i looked into Fri nights at some places and if they dont have a private room they said no. If they did it was more $$

Nocellos is where my friends RD is going to be at...i believe it was 30$ and thats w. beer, wine and soda! I thought that was a great deal!

I work in a small office - our holiday party this year was at La Famiglia - we ordered 3 dishes of 3 different meats, and 3 dishes of 3 different pastas - its all family style there - and it was great. I wonder if we could pull that off for the RD?

That is where Jenn was going to have hers. They were VERY accomodating and the food is EXCELLENT. That reminds me- I want to eat there again-- you and Rich and us should do that shiit soon!!! MMMM Family style!

But definitely check them out-- they are GREAT!!!

What Ive encountered is for a appetizer, salad, 3 entrees, and dessert is anywhere from

$27-40. The average was 33-35. soda, juices, and coffee included.

Beer and wine package is betwween $9.95- $11.95. One place wanted $16.95pp

dont forget tax and 18% gratuity.

Cafe Testarossa wanted 20$ p/p for open Bar! Thought tht was nuts!

We did wine on each table...20$ a carafe

mix drinks were 6$ each

we paid cash so that saved us Tax we just paid the tip!

OMG!! OMG!! Our fils sound exactly alike!! they havent given us any money for the wedding and they are really not that thrilled that we are having a big wedding either- she constantly mentions that how she had a wedding at a knights of columbus etc.

anyhow they are total chinese buffet people too! it just made me laugh b/c our stories sound very similar.

anyhow thank God - she did say ' according to ettiquette the grooms parents pay for the rd' and recently she told my fi that we can choose the place - THANK GOD!! so i think we are going to look for a place that charges about $30 a head only b/c i know she will gasp at anything higher than that....

i think the norm is $30-$40...

We are having ours at La Foccia in Levittown..
Its like under 30 bucks a head all beer wine & soda with a sit down 3 choice dinner,,

Domenicos has such good food!!

We are also thining of La Familgia too!! Since our rehearsal is in Saint James. Let me know if you get any more details. We had a big family dinner there with 15 or more people and it was great!! Love the food and the service was great too!!
