canceling venue

So we are going to book a new date today, I need to write a letter to my old venue and tell them we will be canceling but I do not know what to say or how to word it. I really want them to reimburse us the money we already gave them, so I do not want to be rude !!

Re: canceling venue

It might be in your contract that the money you gave them is non refundable, so I would read that over first!

canceling venue

We had originally booked our wedding for May of 2014 but since then my best friend found out she was deploying in Feb. 2014 so we wanted to move our wedding to this year. Our BM is horrible at calling us back and told us that since we already had a contract he couldn't move our date and if he could figure out how to move the date that he couldn't give us a different price so we would still be paying the May 2014 as opposed to any months 2013 price. I asked him if he could check with a manager and get back to me ASAP and he never did. (This was 2 weeks ago)So we decided that we did not want to give them our business. He is never available when I call and I am just getting sick of it !

Excellent reason why. You may be out of the deposit and any other money paid to them beyond it.

Does the change of date affect your budget at all?

it does slightly effect it but not too much , we already gave them about 3,000 so it would be great to get that back

Re: canceling venue

I suggest calling and speaking to the manager. Don't talk to the BM, sounds like a waste of your time.

I think in Suffolk the contracts for venues are refundable within 30 or 60 days of booking. Do a search on LIW or google.

the contract says we will get the money back after they rebook our date for the same number of people.. I'm worried they will rebook our date for less people purposely :/

That's very strange that he's giving you a hard time about changing the date- as long as the date you want is available what difference does it make? They're not losing your money. I changed my original date a couple months after I booked and it was a very simple process. IMO, $3000 is a lot of money to potentially lose!

I changed my date from 2013 to 2014 and my venue was pretty accomodating. I just had to pay $500 change the date fee.. I would call again.
