As some of you may know, I'm thinking of cancelling my reception at CLM due to a very high number of 'no's'. Not cancelling the wedding, just the party.
Does anyone know how it works with the $? I looked at the contract and it doesn't say anything about what the financial responsiblity is. I'm sure we'll lose our deposit, but would we be responsible for the whole cost based on the minimum number?
Thanks

Re: cancelling CLM reception
40 people saying no is very normal. They say to expect at least 15-20% of guests to say no. Ive seen girls who invited over 200 and about 110-120 said yes, alot of girls get 80 no's or higher and i dont think any of them would tell you that they didnt enjoy their wedding.
I dont understand why you would let these people ruin your wedding. Your wedding is about you and your Fh, not about these 40 ppl being there...those that matter will be there

How about inviting some work people? Or maybe your parents have some people from work or people they thought they would like to invite but did not want to make you spend more money.

40 nos doesn't seem like a totally high number.. out of 120.. it maybe more than what you expected but if u still have 80 yes' i'd say go on and have u'r reception.. have the hall offer those no's food to the folks who are there as seconds.. or take homes..

suffolk has laws that the most they can keep is $100 or something. I don't remember exactly. much better than Nassau where there is nothing to protect us brides.
I think it has to be 6 months prior to the party

I agree. You can invite additional people. You can always have a LIW table also!

Please dont cancel! 80 people is still a nice size for a wedding! I know it is upsetting that so many people are saying tehy can't come to the wedding, but there are still 80 people who are going. And you and ur FH have a big reason to celebrate- so keep the reception! Just think- its that many lesws people you haev to worry about talking to at the wedding- and this way you can spend more time talking to the people who you really want to spend time with. And you may even have time to actually eat something! just please reconsider before canceling!!

80 people is a nice size out of 120 invites...they say like 10-20% say no...i so far have 250-280pp on my guest list and i would hope for about 200-225... have the reception the wedding is about you and your FH not about the guest who attend...the ones who attend are helping celebrate you so do not let the people who say NO bring you down... perhaps you can invite more people from work...or tell some more friends to bring guests...invite if you have brother or sisters who are married their inlaws...

Re: cancelling CLM reception
PLease still have your wedding there....
80 is plenty to have fun and you actually get to enjoy yourself and your guest!!!!! If you are under the min. ask if they can throw extra things in since you are paying for a certain amount of people- but they aren't going to be there.....
It is only right if they do...See if you can make a negative to a positive (Which honestly - I don't think it is a negagtive to have 80- I think the atmosphere for your wedding will be so romantic and beautiful!!!!! PLus like i said- you are going to be able to enjoy yourself and not worry about saying hello to each guest-!!!!!
You are a very lucky girl-take advantge of the setting- you won't regret it....
IF you don't have the Reception- don't you think you will regret it- you would always wonder- how would the wedding have been if we did have it at CLM...
Don't leave it to chance!! Go for it! You deserve it!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think you should cancel. I think that eve if you just had 80 people, thats a great amount of people for a wedding and it will be nice and intimate. I think that, right now, you are very emotional. I would hate for you to be regretting your decision to cancel the reception. SO MANY memories are made at the reception and it would be terrible if you didn't to experience that.

Dont Cancel. This wedding is about you and FH not about those who can't make it. Things happen for a reason and maybe the reason is so that it would be more intimate and give you a chance to really spend time with the people who made the celebration. Remember this is not a party but a union of two people.
Dont' cancel.

I always thought that if they can re-book it then you get all your money back if not they keep a certain amount...I think
yeah but did you see her wedding date? it's month away, gonna be hard to book it.
Oh, didn't see it...Yeah that is too close...It is probably best to just have the party anyway and eat the difference! Try to invite more people!

Re: cancelling CLM reception
we are in the same situtaion...our min. in 100 people but i only see about 80 people actually showing up. I wanted to change RHs but FH refuses because he wants our RH so badly. I dont know what we are going to do but we will eat the difference in the end if we have to. i dont think 80 ppl is too small for a wedding though.
