cancelling CLM reception

cancelling CLM reception

As some of you may know, I'm thinking of cancelling my reception at CLM due to a very high number of 'no's'. Not cancelling the wedding, just the party.

Does anyone know how it works with the $? I looked at the contract and it doesn't say anything about what the financial responsiblity is. I'm sure we'll lose our deposit, but would we be responsible for the whole cost based on the minimum number?

Thanks

suffolk has laws that the most they can keep is $100 or something. I don't remember exactly. much better than Nassau where there is nothing to protect us brides.

I think it depends on how close to the date you are.....it might be better to invite more people if you can ...if its close to the date you may be fully responsible!!

I always thought that if they can re-book it then you get all your money back if not they keep a certain amount...I think

only if the wedding is 6 months away or more

You possibly could be liable for a certain portion considering the day is close...they will probably be entitled to what you paid them and that is it...if i were you, don't cancel, just invite more people! Or see what CLM will do for you!

If I were you I woudl not cancel it. You are probably still going to be liable for most of the costs for all of your vendors since you are only a month away.

I guess you could call up and find out to be certain, but to me I would just stick with it since you are probably going to be out a lot of money either way.

you should invite some LIWedding brides, we'll supoport you
Just a crazy thought, I know you don't want people you don't know @ your wedding. I feel like you should have it anyway, just try to invite more people but it's up to you. What do your parents think?

This is the same that my RH told me when we signed the contract...We lose our deposit but if they can fill that date with another affair we weren't responsible for the difference. However, if it does not get filled then you would be...Hope this helps! Good luck!

yeah but that only applies if you cancel your wedding 6 months or more before the wedding

even though you got alot of 'NO's' are you way below your minimum? ALOT of girls on here can tell you that they were below their minimum, some even 20-30 below, its ok. They can throw in extras to make up for the difference, some places say no but alot of girls did get to have it thrown in. Regardless i think you would end up losing more in deposit for RH, deposits for vendors than still having the party and losing money bc youre below your minimum

Have you spoken to the people at CLM? Maybe they have some ideas...and, like someone else said, maybe they will throw in some extras. Considering you are going to lose at least some $ there and then it will cost you more $ to have a party somewhere else, if you do, it might just be beter to take a bit of a lossss at CLM. Just a thought!

Good luck!

Don't cancel! You'll lose nearly everything from RH and vendors! I am cancelling my wedding but since my is the day after yours and so close, I was getting nothing back so I am hosting a fundraiser instead!

Don't cancel...its crazy!

denise is right

I want to cancel the reception and still go ahead with the church service. My family and FH want to still have the reception but I am so upset by the whole thing that I want nothing to do with it. I would like to have the church service then maybe cookies and cake at my parents' house for those who had planned to attend the reception. What do you think? And how would you inform the guests who did agree to come?

Right now we have about 80 yes and 40+ no
Thanks for all the support!

I can only imagine how hurt you must feel...maybe they can move your reception upstairs (unless that's where you had it originally) - maybe it won't feel so small then? My room was upstairs and it has way more of an intimate feel. I loved it!

I would imagine that if you had to cancel, there would have to be a lot of phone calls to be made- or maybe you can just send out something by mail.

I know this isn't the same thing, but I wanted to share. We invited 63 people to my bridal shower, and only 28 showed. I was really hurt, and somewhat embarrassed. I was never that girl that cared about that stuff, but for some reason this struck a cord. My mother and I had gone out of my way for so many of these people, and it was sort of insulting. Some of these people had valid reasons, some just didn't feel like making the trip.

Anyway, I cried several times the two weeks before the shower - again, not normally my thing, but I was really hurt. But the day of the shower I was SO happy. And to be honest, I felt like less was more because I had more time to spend with people. I didn't even think about the people that didn't show. I was just having so much fun with the people that were there.

Again, I know a wedding is much bigger, but you may end up regretting canceling your reception because of this. Get your frustration and tears out now, and enjoy your day! And like the other girls said, you will be out a lot more money by canceling. I know that's not what you're thinking about now, but once you're over this you may not feel the same way.

Either way, good luck with your decision and your wedding!
