What the heck do I say ? I'm calling to cancel my reception hall today. I am so bad with things like this and I have no idea what to say. I don't want to burn bridges because I'm still having my reception in the same area and it's a very small community and people talk.

Re: cancelling rh today
*READ YOUR CONTRACT AND SEE WHAT IT SAYS FIRST* I know my hall it is almost impossible to cancel unless you want to pay them 75%.
You can just say the wedding is off.

Re: cancelling rh today
I have checked my contract and there's no cancellation policy. I'm assuming this because it's in Suffolk county and is governed by that 6mo law.

You're lucky. I should have booked in Suffolk county. Well try that and see. .are even you're getting married at city hall because your financial situation changed and you ust can't afford it anymore

Re: cancelling rh today
Don't do it by phone!!! You have a binding contract. All notices to contracts should be in writing.
Send a letter, certified mail, return receipt requested stating that you are canceling and request your deposit back.
To protect yourself with any contract, get it in writing. The last thing you want is them to come back and say you didn't cancel in time, etc.

Definitely do this. If you go do it over the phone, there is no guarantee they will actually cancel it, hate to say it. I would put it in writing, attach a copy of the contract and send it certified.

Re: cancelling rh today
I had to cancel my first RH with a letter, signed and dated by both me and DH.
