Candle Poem Basket

Candle Poem Basket

Please post pictures of candle poem baskets you have made or received! I am making one for my cousin and I am unsure of how to put it together. Was the poem read and the entire basket handed over, or were they handed over pair by pair? Also, what type of candles? A mix of stick, votive and pillar?

Thanks!

Sorry I should have specified for the shower. There is a poem out there that you read and you give the bride different color candles for different events in their married life. I'll find the poem...

Re: Candle Poem Basket

A Basket of Candles
For bride name

A basket of candles That come in a pair
In all different colors, For you two to share
The white ones burn first
They are wrapped in white lace
To celebrate your first married night
In your new chosen place
The green pair is taller, and also much thinner
Burn with the first company, you have over for dinner
The dark blue candles are for after your first fight
Use them to burn while making up all night
Pink candles set the mood and pave the way
For your first married Valentine’s Day
Now, when your first year of marriage is through
The cream anniversary pair, will light for you two.
Red candles aflame, both your futures are bright.
Celebrate promotions you’ve worked toward with all of your might.
By this time we hope, maybe, just maybe
You can light the purple ones, on the birth of your baby,
And just when you thought, you’d put these away
Take the light blue ones out-for your fifth anniversary day.
Now just one more pair left-for the big 2 5
The anniversary pair that will keep your love alive
Congratulations bride and groom (enter names)
On the start of your forever
May the two of you always be happy together
And burn these candles
Just the way we said
But please don’t forget-blow them out before bed!

With love,
Your bridal party

Re: Candle Poem Basket

The poem was read at the end of my shower. It was from my SIL. I held each candle up as she said the color. I did receive all different kinds of candles, pillar, stick & votive. I don't have a picture of it. The poem is at home, but I could email it to you if you need it. Let me know.

Here's a pic of the one my mom gave me at my shower. It was the 1st gift I opened and as I read the poem out loud I'd pull each candle out to show everyone.

My cousin got one at her shower too, one of her BMs read it to her.

I have done the basket of candles numerous times w/ the bridal party.
You can do any colors you want if you are having problems finds them and the candles can be your choice. I'm seen it done with all pillars and others with a variety. I've help w/ one where we added candle holders for all the different candles we induled but be careful b/c that can get expensive.

The poem is so cute that any way you do it will be nice. My other suggestion would be to put the poem in a frame. Other gift!

IMO I would present them all together in the basket and just read the poem out loud.

Thanks girls! I'll have to scope out the sales for nice baskets! I already started buying sticks and votives since she received nice candle holders for her e-party, but maybe I'll through in some pillars also to add some variety! Thanks again!

I made this for one of my girlfriends who recently got married. I gave it to her for her Bridal Shower. I piked up the candles from different places: Dollar Store, Big Lots, K-Mart.

my BMs did this for me, it was so sweet. They each took a turn reading a part of the poem and my jr. BM held up each candle. They also put a label on each candle to say what it was for!

I did this when I was maid of honor at my cousin's' wedding she loved it. I wrote the poem in a nice script font and printed it out on nice paper, then I had it framed with a silver picture frame that I had engraved at Things Remembered. I read it after all her gifts were opened at the shower and everyone loved it. My cousin was in tears as I was reading it.

I did this for FSIL a few weeks ago for her bridal shower. I framed the poem with matting the color of the bridesmaid dresses and bought both votive and tapered candles. She loved it and was crying! I bought her a ton of stuff but this is what stuck out most to her.
Taper candles for dinner celebrations, votive for first fight and valentine's day. I also arranged the candles so they didn't just look like a pile. Use cans underneath tissue paper to create different heights. I'll send pic when I get them.

Good luck! Everyone loved it!

Re: Candle Poem Basket

here ia another cute poem

Basket Full of Lovin'

For the Bride to be,
Here are a few things
that you might enjoy.......
Just something for you and your boy!

First off a little negligee
for you to wear -
To be sexy and fun with your man if you dare!

There is also some chocolate syrup
for ultimate flavor -
Followed by whipped cream
for you to savor.

Now you need some maraschino cherries -
To start brand new.
And finally - extra little nuts -
Even though you now have two!!
