I was getting my flowers from a supermarket. I met with them once to discuss what kind of flowers I wanted. I was supposed to have a follow up appt this week. I just called the lady (who has been in the floral industry for yrs) and she is quitting and not able to do my wedding!!!! She does not recommend anyone else in that store to do the wedding b/c they will not be able to handle it.!!!!
It is 7 weeks until my wedding, how I am supposed to start from scratch! She only reommended 2 other supermarkets in the area and said everyone else wouldnt do a good job.
I can't even belive this is happening.

FLOWERS BY LIZ - Liz is a friend of my FFIL. I booked her today right on the spot! She kept me in my budget. Now I know what a difference a REAL florist makes. I would not recommend Stop & Shop to anyone. (Maybe it was just that one person, but still....)
Liz had books upon books and idea after idea. She was great. She had pics from back in the 80's - early 90's that were so funny to look at!! That is how long she has been doing this.
I am so happy and sooooo relieved. Thank you to everyone for all of your recomendations!!

I would just start calling florists - I'm sure there plenty of good ones that can give you what you want. I booked with Pedestals, so I recommend calling them.
I'd also highly recommend Topaz in Oceanside - they did the flowers for my brothers wedding and did a great job!

I don't know where you are located but I used Lisa's Little Flower Shop in Holbrook. They did an amazing job and the price was great.

That just *****!! Did it say anything about anything similar to this kind of thing happening in your contract? Make sure you get all your deposit back and then see if there is some kind of loop hole to maybe help you get more money- you should be compensated for your troubles in my opinion.
And def start calling florists. I dunno what store you went to (maybe stop and shop?) but maybe see if there is another one with a florist you are comfortable with. Also try Whole Foods, Burtons, Flower Michele, and look into small floral shops as well- they may not get as booked as the usualy ones we read about on these boards. goodluck!

There are a few florists that are known to have great prices: Burton's (although they gave us the most expensive quote!!! other ladies have gotten great prices), Verbena Designs, and Designs by Rose.
We're using Designs by Rose and they are so sweet, caring, and their prices really can't be beat. Give them a call and see what they can do for you! 718-848-7511 Good luck! I hope they're available for your day!

Also - I have heard a lot of good things about Burton's but turns out an employee is getting married the same day as me and they are closed.

I was told by a family friend who's husband works in the floral dep't of Stop and Shop that their arrangements are BEAUTIFUL!!!! I'm planning on looking there first to get quotes and stuff. I don't have first hand experience but call them and find out...It will all work out...don't stress!

My FMIL's friend used her on many occasions and says she is great.
The big companies may be booked up already.

Are you interested in doing your own flowers? If so, www.lwflowers.com is a great place to go for cheap and beautiful flowers.
We did all of our flowers and bouquets by ourselves and saved SOOOOOOO much money! Pic in my album of my bouquet.
Sorry you are dealing with this so close to your wedding..........it will all work out though.......
