Can't find invitations I like...

My gosh - invitations are so expensive - is it typical for the tab to run around over a thousand dollars?

I am afraid that yes they probably are around $1000. I have heard of girls getting invitations for under $500 online but I like to deal with peopel in person especially since my invitations didn't come out like I thought they would. I am paying $1300 for 175 invites and was glad I could right back to the store with them and have them fixed. Anyway I first looked at my catering hall b/c there is a wedding coordinator there and looked through all her books but I ended up going with someone else when I bought them.

I had this dilemma when I first started looking. everything I liked was SO expensive. So I thought about it came to the realization that at the end of the day, it's paper that is going to get thrown out. I know it's important, and I did want to love them. So someone from LIW rec'd an online site and I found something I liked even better than what I had originally liked. $200 for everything minus thank you cards!

I put the money I saved into the photographer b/c I felt that mattered a lot more.

I saw some really nice brown invites from Encore, but just as a warning, Encore invites are $$$$.

I believe you've seen mine before...I ordered them online at Now & Forever. They came out perfect...actually better than I could ever imagine... They were only $200 for 100 invites, etc.

Try Jean M. We couldn't find any we liked until we got to design our own on their site. It cost way under 1000. How many are you planning on ordering?

I went insane - I really disliked everything i saw. Alot were too lacey, bridey, white, and traditional.

I eventually had mine made by a designer in Seattle, she is just starting her busines and gave me awesome rates for my pocketfold invite @ 4.00 each. We paid under $500 for 110 custom designed invitations. FM me if you want any info on her.

Honestly, I think it just takes a bit of research, and the willingness to go with an online company (they can send samples).

Good Luck! (I loved the stuff on www.mygatsby.com)

That is completely how I looked at it as well. I'd rather put the money into something more useful. Went with the Rexcraft invitations and they were about $240 for 100 with the special embossed silver foil lettering

about 100 invites.

I checked out JeanM and mygatsby but I am skeptical about ordering online - what if they really screw up - I'll have to call operator #214 :) :) :)

The lady in Seattle - do you have a picture of your invite and her contact info?

I used a lady who works out of her house in Jericho. If you'd like her info pls fm me. I spent approx. $500 (a little less) for $150 invites and all the fixins.
I went looking originally at Proper Papers in Plainview and they had a huge selection...many books in the lower price range...very nice people...
fm if you're interested in contact info

Have you checked out Linda's Lovelies? She had SO many choices and was great to work with. She is a vendor on here.

I had a hard time finding invitations I liked online, so I went to Kathy at Follow your Heart (a vendor on here) who worked with me and allowed me to look at a ton of books. Then I was able to widdle down from there and pick one that I absolutely loved!!

I got these for less than $500 for 175

Re: Can't find invitations I like...

$1000 on invites??? Some of the invites are nice, but not worth the $.

They go in the garbage ladies!!!

If you order one of the more standard invitations on a site like exclusivelyweddings.com, you can get 100 invitations for less than $250! AND they are nice invitations!

Why waste money on something that only your immediate family and a few friends may keep? Use the money toward something that really matters!

Don't mean to offend anyone, just how I feel!

I'm having the same problem. I don't like any of the ones I've been seeing. Hopefully we'll decide on something soon!

That's why I'm making my own. They are a LOT of work, but it is something I can really be creative with.
