Can't find the 'ONE' dress

Original post by Bridex100

I like one dress from Kleinfeld's and one from Mark Ingram but I don't have that 'OMG I have to get married in this dress' feeling.

Should I keep looking or just buy one of the two that I like already?

I know I need to order a dress within the next 2-3 months so it will be ready in time for my wedding...

Anyone else in my same boat or was in my same boat?

Keep looking-go on the hunt. If in two mos you don't find the one-I would buy one of the two. Good luck.

ME, ME, ME... it's almost depressing...

What is that supposed to mean?

Back to the original question asked, I think you have plenty of time and I would keep looking. You will know when you find 'the one'. But to wait until December, is late. Some designers take a while to come in so be careful when shopping around.

I would keep looking. My dress came in really early. They were telling me 9 months, it came in four.

You'll know. Seriously.People told me that I would know when I found the right dress. I was like 'whatever', I didn't believe it. But when I put on my dress, I just cried. I knew. It's true. It really is true. I didn't have to look at any other dresses. Fortunately, my dress was the first one I saw adn tried on, but still. Don't settle, you'll always be second guessing your decision. Plus, my dress is nothing like what I wanted at all. Now I can't think of wearing anything but that dress, it is like it was made just for me.

Re: Can't find the 'ONE' dress

When I started looking I had some sort of idea what I wanted, and what I did not want. I ended up with a dress that I like, but I never freaked out and cried over it. The dress fits my personality if you can believe it, and there were no other dresses that 'worked' as well as this one did.

It did not call out to me and even with the approval of my mom and sister (and father and MIL) I am ok with it. I think I look good in it, and it is very me. I may be in love with it after all the alterations are complete, but I am just not that sort of person.

Also, I look at all the other dresses in the store and I know that none of them will work for me as well as the one that I chose.

I cant promise you that the dress will call out your name and that you will cry, but you will certainly know when it works for you.

Keep looking and keep your options open. That is the most important part when searching for your gown.

Good luck!

Re: Can't find the 'ONE' dress

My sister HATES dresses. Going shopping for a wedding dress was a MAJOR hassle for her. (as was going shopping for her dress for my wedding). Everything she tried on, she found something wrong with. We went to Burtons, Princess Bridals, Adriennes, Bay Shore Bridal, Carmelas, Macys (Smithhaven [three times] and Manhasset), Bridal Reflections and a bunch of other places I can't even remember. It was totally at the point where no sale woman even helped us because I was so good at getting her in and out of dresses.

Then someone told us about Helen's on Austin Blvd in Commack. She tried on 5 dresses that day. The fourth one made her cry, but I made her put on the 5th dress anyway. She bought the 4th dress she tried on at Helens, but overall it was close to the 50th or 60th dress she actually tried on. Just to give a further example of how much she hates dresses - her first fitting was the first time she laid eyes on the dress after she ordered it - she never went to visit it.

Keep looking. YOUR dress is out there.

Trust me, when you find the dress you will know. I found my dress and kept it on for about 15 minutes in the store. I don't get that feeling from reading your post. Try on more gowns.
