can't get into...

can't get into...

Ever since the summer, the purchase of the house, and my sister's wedding passing, I just can't seem to get into my own wedding planning. All I think about is the house and what needs to get done next. I am getting married in nearly a year and have done nothing as far as planning. I don't feel like it either I keep thinking of all the that we have to come up with. I saw how my sisters day came and went, 30K later... I don't want it to be like that. I can think of a million other things to spend that kind of money on. Is there something wrong with me that I don't feel like having a wedding anymore? FH is still all about it and says we will just put it on the charge... but I just say 'lets get married in a small kind of way'. Not with all the bells and whistles! I don't know, just stressed I guess and hope this passes. Why does everything have to be so damn expensive

I have to tell you that there are things you can do to have a nice wedding and not spend all that money. I dont think that anyone is going to notice that I didnt spend 30K on my wedding. We are looking for a house now and I worry about paying for the wedding. We CAN charge the remainder and pay it off with some of the wedding money. I SWEAR you dont have to spend a lot. You have to know that if it says 'wedding' they charge you three times more than its worth. You can get the same services and products without the price! I always thought I could only afford a B-B-Q- in the yard wedding. I'm having it in a hall with almost all the bells and whistles! I'm sorry this is so long, but I totally understand how you feel, and it can work out for you just the way you want it. You can FM me for details if you want because this is getting long. Good Luck!

You can definately have a beautiful wedding without spending a load of money. One of my closest friends had her wedding in her parents backyard and it was one of the best i have been to yet! Try looking at hall that have everything included (ex. Like brentwood CC).
I know how you feel i bought my condo about a year and 1/2 ago and for that fisrt year everything was about our new place. We got engaged alost a year after moving in. And we are now thinking about a house not too long after we are married.
I think once you start planning you will get into it and enjoy.

GOOD LUCK

There's nothing wrong with you at all. Maybe you're just not a big wedding type of person. But just think thoroughly about what you really want. You don't want to regret not having the wedding you always wanted later, whether it's full of bells and whistles or not. Also, talk to 2003OCT10 - she had a big beautiful wedding for no where near $30k! It's totally doable.

Also, I know exactly how you feel about the house. FH bought our house and though I don't live there yet, we can't wait to fix it up and that's going to cost alot of $$$ that we are technically spending on the wedding. But I look at it as everything in it's due time. First comes the marriage, then comes the house. It'll get all get done sometime during this lifetime we have to spend together -- so let's 'officially' start that first!

Re: can't get into...

I just read your post about saving money on the big day. I was wondering how you 'cut corners'? We still haven't set a date, mostly cus I want a house and feel all of our money should not just go onto the wedding.

thanks

edited to say: fm me if you would like.

Re: can't get into...

You do have time so you can wait a little if you want. Maybe you should start looking for a dress, that really increases the feel of a wedding. We are spending about half of what your sister spend and still plan on most of the bells and whistles. You just have to do your homework (or ask LIW girls) who are the inexpensive vendors. FM me if you want to know how I'm doing it.
