A friend of mine is getting married next month and send out his invites way in advance since its an out of town wedding.... Unfortunately FH and I can not make it .. It would be a very expensive weekend between gas, tolls, hotel (2 nights) and gift ect.
How much should I send a gift for? I was thinking $100. Is that reasonable??
TIA

Re: Cant make wedding .. advice
I think $100 is reasonable. I also have a friend getting married in June and her wedding is in Arizona. I cannot make it and was going to send her a nice card and $100.

I think $100 is nice. If it's a close friend, I would try to give more.

I think, given the fact that you can not attend, sending any money at all is a really nice gesture, so $100 is more than fine

$100 is good, if you are very close with them you could give more but give anything is nice so i wouldnt stress and you are obvi on a budget getting married yourself so.

Re: Cant make wedding .. advice
$100 is perfect. I have had two weddings this year that I couldn't attend, and I bought gifts off the registry that were about $100 and had them sent.

I think that's fine, especially because they do not have to pay for your plates. So whatever you give goes to them.

I think thats fine, or buy something off of the registry that wasn't purchased.

Re: Cant make wedding .. advice
We have been getting $100 for our guests who cannot make our wedding, so I think that is the going rate.

i imagine your friend will appreciate anything you give. i've been finding for my own wedding that when people RSVP with a decline (with or w/out a gift), i am especially appreciative when they take the time to call and to personally share their reason for not being able to attend, and to wish my FH and i well. just makes me feel like they truly care... :)
