My Fiance and I are having the hardest time, finding the 'right' venue. At first, my mother and I were looking around, but after I narrowed it down and we picked completely different places, I figured it was best to start looking together.
We want to stay on a budget up to $150 a plate. I don't want to get married at a wedding factory, either. We're from Queens, and don't want someplace that is more than an hour away (that's the max). Does anyone have any suggestions? I need HELP!

FH didn't like the woodlands ( i loved it), he thought it was too old and 'depressing.' I called Royalton and for a Saturday in 2011, they quoted me at $180++ (way out of budget). I called The INN and they quoted at $130-160++
I might have to go with Crest Hollow... this is sooo stressful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NYBride, What are your criterias? I have been searching for 9 months...no joke! But it is a extreme case...we don't live near the city. So I have quotes for A LOT of places. Perhaps certain places that didn't work for us can work for you.

OMG! 9 months! You're not exhausted? My attitude has been BIG time B8itchy. :( I'm so down and out about this... my life has become all about WEDDING! AHHHHH!
I would like: a nice ballroom (200 people), I would like it to be one wedding at a time, pretty grounds, possible pool or some sort of body of water, good food, and great price, MAX i want to spend is $150 (including tax and service).

I am going to say Flowerfield also based on what you just said.
It has everything you want.
Only thing is that depending on the time of year it can be more than $150... but depending on when your wedding is, it could be less.

Why dont you try De Seversky, its definitely in your budget. Also, you can try Glen Cove Mansion, they are right around 150 pp.
ETA: You may want to consider the Woodlands again, I went to a wedding there and it was the best wedding I have ever been to, the food was to die for and the service was excellent.

Try the Woodlands. 1 wedding at a time.
I live in Queens too -- the Woodlands is about 25-30 minutes away.
You can also try the Glen Cove mansion -- maybe more than $150 (depending on the time of the year).

Did you try Fox Hollow or Woodbury Country Club? Both have really nice grounds and water features. I'm not sure about the price for WCC but Fox Hollow was reasonable. I think between $80-130. HTH

We are both from Queens too and that is why we booked Chateau Briand. We loved the hall the people and the price and it is soooooo close compared to other halls.

I've checked the Woodlands, and I loved it but FH didn't like it so much. Wants more of a celebration and lots of food!!
Seriously considering going with Crest Hollow CC.

Douglaston Manor, I believe is one wedding at a time. Its beautiful and definatley within your budget.
Im not sure about The Inn at New Hyde Park if its one wedding at a time but i hear its amazing there.
I love my Rh and its not far from Queens at all but they do have more than one wedding...although I have gone there to check it out when there are weddings going on, lol and its not like a 'wedding factory' AT ALL, like some reception halls unfortunately turn out to be.
North Ritz club i hear is beautiful!...wish I wouldve checked it out.
I would check out the Fresh MEadow country club in Great Neck...not sure on price though.
Ohhhh...and Floral Terrace, i loveeeeee this place! for me personally though, i wwouldve wanted a little more outside grounds but this place is amazing, really!!!!!!!

Russo's is nice.
I also liked DeSeversky Center
My pick is The SandCastle. The food is phenomenal if that is what you are looking for. Package INCLUDES seafood boat and vienesse hour. You can't do better food wise and the place is gorgeous - marble everywhere and one wedding hall in three different rooms.

You may want to check out Chateau La Mer - it's just over the Nassau/Suffolk line & on the water - simply beautiful- only has 2 rooms an upstairs & downstairs so it's not a wedding factory whatsoever. We never even knew there was another wedding going on until we left for the night. The food was to DIE FOR! & we got a really good price for a Sat night in Aug $95pp+tax & grat.
They definitely have even better prices depending on day, time of day & month you want to get married...HTH..GL!

Re: Can't Pick a Venue!!
I would recommend woodbury country club especially if you are looking to get married in May. Their price was $90.00 a person for a Sunday evening with 125 guar. but I do not know what it is for Sat or Friday. But in May they include a Free Viennese which adds another hour to your party! The food is good too, I tried some appetizers when I booked them :o)

Re: Can't Pick a Venue!!
Don't forget to include Tax and Tip. They will quote you a price per plate but once you include ++ the price per plate could go up a lot!
A quote of $115 per plate + 20% service + 8.65% tax works out to about $150 per plate.
Something I didn't really think about when I first started looking at places!

SandCastle looks outdated on the website... I really hate chair covers. Is it like that in person?
DeSeversky Center, do they have a big cocktail hour or is it only the passed hor doeuvres?

We checked out Chateau La Mer last week and thought it was a bit 'run down.' Apparently, they're going to do a little renovation, new carpets and paint...

You can always add more to the cocktail hour but it includes more than just passed hor doeurvres. its 10 passed hor duerves and then they have stations that you can pick from, I believe you get 4 stations. It seemed pretty standard to me. FM me if you have any questions, I have all the paperwork at home and can give you pricing and other details if you want.
