Can't Pick a Venue!!

Original post by NYBride

My Fiance and I are having the hardest time, finding the 'right' venue. At first, my mother and I were looking around, but after I narrowed it down and we picked completely different places, I figured it was best to start looking together.

We want to stay on a budget up to $150 a plate. I don't want to get married at a wedding factory, either. We're from Queens, and don't want someplace that is more than an hour away (that's the max). Does anyone have any suggestions? I need HELP!

Russo's is nice.

I also liked DeSeversky Center

My pick is The SandCastle.
The food is phenomenal if that is what you are looking for. Package INCLUDES seafood boat and vienesse hour. You can't do better food wise and the place is gorgeous - marble everywhere and one wedding hall in three different rooms.

SandCastle looks outdated on the website... I really hate chair covers. Is it like that in person?

DeSeversky Center, do they have a big cocktail hour or is it only the passed hor doeuvres?

If you are looking at the photos of the ballroom, yes the chair covers DO look like that -they are new though - they did renovations last year. But if you do not like them, you would have to talk to them about it.

As for DeSeversky Center, there was a cocktail hour. I wouldn't say BIG cocktail hour but it wasn't just passed hor dourvres either and the place was gorgeous, but inside and out. Food wise I would say sandcastle has a better cocktail hour. But the dinner at both was good.

Did You look @ Russos On the Bay

I love it there... prices depend on your date or if your flex

Russo's unfortunately has about anywhere from 3 -8 weddings going at a time...its a huge venue

Not that I'm saying everyone has to love Russo's, because seriously, it wasn't even my first choice... but it can't possibly have 8 weddings going on a time, there are only 3 main rooms, And I'm almost positive (I could be wrong) that they only book the Renaissance and Tivoli rooms for weddings.

And M_Berk-Glenn is right, it's def in your price range and def worth checking out if you're still up in the air..

OK, ETA, they also book the Florentine room... but that's all the rooms... def not 8 weddings.

You can always add more to the cocktail hour but it includes more than just passed hor doeurvres. its 10 passed hor duerves and then they have stations that you can pick from, I believe you get 4 stations. It seemed pretty standard to me. FM me if you have any questions, I have all the paperwork at home and can give you pricing and other details if you want.

Unfortunately, DeSeversky doesn't hold our numbers for a traditional wedding. It was gorgeous! We all loved it! GL!!
