Re: Car Buying
It depends on the dealership and the incentives they have going at the time. My parents ALWAYS buy their cars cash- they usually get decent prices.. but you need to go to different dealers of the same car and ask them.. then compare. There isn't a set $ amount. But really the better bet would be (if you have like the 20k-40k for a new car) is to finance it at 0% if they have it- then take the 20k and throw it into a CD or a higher interest bearing account... you'd actually be MAKING money for driving the car b/c you wouldn't be paying interest on the finance agreement.
of course- this all depends on whether the car you like has a 0% interest offer or not.

Re: Car Buying
I bought my car with cash, and they took like $400 off the price and threw in a few extras. I'm usually really good at negotiating car prices too, so I was really disappointed. The dealer tried to tell me that he couldn't give more off because they want you to finance, since that's where they really make money. I don't know, maybe you'll have better luck than me.Edited to add: I tried pricing it at a few dealers, and they all told me pretty much the same thing. Maybe it's a honda thing? I dunno.

Re: Car Buying
It all depends on the car....If there is a really big write up on the vehicle then the dealer will be able to deal with you. If you go in and tell them you will pay with cash but you only want to pay $100 over invoice.....see what they say. You may get the car for $100 over what they pay for the car. Even if the sell it for $100 over invoice the dealer is still making money on the car.....You can either say invoice or Tissue...they both mean the same thing. That is the price the dealer pays for the car.
