so here is my silly question about this.. i have been thinking twice about either making one or even having one in general. the reason i say this is because i dont know if this is going to be a waste of item for my wedding only because.. from all the wedding i have been to, especially the portuguese weddings from our tradition - at the end of the night when they come up to say goodbye to go home that is when they hand me and fh the cards and say their goodbye and thank yous and blah blah. we dont really put out the card box in the entrance or anything or in a spot where they would just walk to and put it in! this is how we do it and i dont know how you guys really do it (the girls who actually use the card boxes). so now i dont know what i should do! all the weddings i have been to (mostly portuguese tradtional ones) they dont have card boxes.. i have been thinking twice about this now though because i started to think, the ones that will give it to us earlier in the night, or even at the end what are we suppose to do with them? hold onto them as others are saying goodbye and giving their cards to us? we have to have some kind of box to throw them into as their giving it to us one after the other!? so maybe i should get just a simple one to put them in!? but not like i am going to have it out for show and to have them put it in themselves cause we just dont do it that way!
i need some help with this, lol.. and i was wondering if ALL you girls are getting these pretty card boxes for your wedding and how are you doing it?? like are you having it out for people to throw their cards in or what??

My mom thought I was insane for doing the cardbox as well.. I'm Dominican and every wedding I've been to the bride is lugging around that damn sack thinggy or card bag or whatever you call it, and that's something I refuse to do... One of my bridesmaids said.. well we'll start it off by putting our envelopes in there and people will see, and they'll copy... So that's what I'm hoping for.. Just a domino effect.. lol

i honestly do not expect anyone to just drop their cards in it themseles.... i'm using mine more of a storage point to keep them all together so my forgetfull blonde a$$ doesn't leave any cards sitting around.

yeah my brother and sister in law who got married last feb her mom made her this pretty handmade envelope sac to carry around! it was really pretty and she wasnt the one who carried it. we took turns between the BM's to carry it during that night! but i dont like that idea, cause that is a big responsability and god forbid something happens to it or somone leaves it behind or something, i dont like that idea of even me carrying it myself.. so i am thinking of just ordering a cute card box, not a crazyy expensive one! just something simple, just so i can have it to store them as their giving them to me at the end of the night so i dont forget them or even have them laying around! and especially with the BMs they will be giving me theirs early in the day, so i will have a place for them too.. you gave a good point, so i guess ill just order a simple one that! :)
but now i dont want it too be completely out of the color theme i am doing since it is going to be put somewhere near me and the cake table and it will obviously be shown! lol! :) ahh i drive myself crazy with these wedding items, ugh! everyday its something new.. lol! =P
now i have to look around for something.. ahh!

I totally agree with this, I don't expect the guests to put their gifts in it, FH and I will put them in there.

I used the generic card box provided by the decorator. I didn't want to spend another $100 or so on a big fancy one when I could spend that money elsewhere. We had the cardbox out at the cocktail hour and people just put their cards in it themselves. Some people gave me their cards personally, but most didn't. I don't see anything wrong with people putting it in themselves. There was always someone watching the cardbox to ensure nothing happened to it.

LOL same here! My mom was like a card box???? What about your card bag?? You HAVE to go to every single table to say hello so they will give u the cards then not put it in a box! Gotta love Dominican moms

yeah so i dont know what i am exactly going to do now with this.. either i will just order an afordable card box thats simple, cause i am definately not going to go crazy in wasting tons of money on this when this was an item that never crossed my mind to even have to begin with.. or ill prolly get a card bag!? ahh, i dunno! we'll see what i decide on.. thanx for the help though girls! :)
