So Fh and I were discussing this and I just wanted to get some opinions on which is better and SAFER... a Card Box or Card Bag
Card boxes seem great, but I would be worried that someone would open it and walk off with the cards
Card Bags seem great too, but its the same prob, only i would leave the card bag with my very trusted Aunt who would guard that thing with her life.
Pros and cons ladies??

I am using a card bag.
A con is that you need to leave it with someone who will guard it with their life.
Some pros... a lot of people aren't really aware of what a card box is. My friend had one at her wedding and I saw a total of 3 people actually put their cards in it. Most people want to hand you their card/gift and not just deposit it into a box.

Re: Card Box vs Card Bag
I'm doing a card box, I started to make it on Saturday and the only way to take it apart and get the cards out is to destroy this box, so I'm not worried about people taking cards out of it during the reception

Re: Card Box vs Card Bag
i personally dont like the bag, because i dont want to go around the reception hall looking for cards.
if people give them to me, i plan to hand it to DOC and she can put it in the card box
but i just dont want to walk around with a bag. JMO

I plan to do a box. Also, many of the boxes now have locks on them so you need a key to open it.

Re: Card Box vs Card Bag
i am not getting or making a card box because in my opinion its extra money to spend unnecessarily. also because when i was born my nanny (my moms mom) made me a white card bag. it has been used for my christening, communion, confirmation & sweet 16, all of at which my nanny was in charge of it. since she has passed away i will be using it in memory of her at the wedding. however, seeing that it is 25 years old my aunt will be making a new card bag and my original one will be inside of it.

We'll be using a bag. It makes me nervous to have a big box out, advertising 'HERE ARE OUR CARDS, HERE'S ALL THE MONEY'
Anyone know where I can get a card bag btw?? :-P

I had originally decided on a card box, until my mother said that same thing...so, we'll be using a bag.
And I know David's has some card bags for sale...

Sometimes you can get one at the bridal store where you get your dress

I am doing a card box and I will have it near the sweetheart table so I doubt someone would walk off with it or try to open it I would notice. Plus my DOC will guard it like a hawk

Re: Card Box vs Card Bag
I'm definitely not doing the card bag just feel that it is a bit old fashion plus it would be easier for someone to grab things out of if that was their intention. My RH offers either a bird cage or mailbox...both are really pretty I think we are going with the bird cage.....I just feel safer about it and feel that if someone was trying anything funny someone would def. see them before they got anything lol.

my mom wants me to get a card bag---it's tradition! lol....i'm a little nervous with that idea though because at least with this big *** box you can watch it....what if the bag dissappears!

I'm breaking with tradition in my family and going with a card box. But my FFIL is amazing with woodwork so he is going to make one for us in a way that it can also be a special keepsake afterwards. I'm so excited about it!

I'm using a card box, it will be displayed next to us and right near my parents table so my grandmother will be keeping her hawk eyes on it!
