Re: Card Boxes?

I hope it's not tacky... we are using one. It's so that you don't have to walk around carrying a bag full of envelopes, or your FH or father or someone don't have a jacket pocket full of cards. Asw you receive cards, you (or specially designated BP member) go over and put them into the box. Guests don't do it. We are actually having ours made by one of the brides on this site, Elisa (aka WeezieNY)!!! She got married in October and I haven't seen her much since then, but you could try to FM her for more info if you want.

One more plus about the card boxes... security. They are sealed so you don't have to worry about someone 'accidentally' picking up a stray envelope somewhere.

Re: Card Boxes?

card purses are the satin bags that brides and grooms have so that as people give them cards they can stach them in there so they don't have to carry the cards in their hands all night long

Re: Card Boxes?

Hi Smokoloff I am here. i havent really had much time to post but I still cruiseabout.
I started making the card boxes everyone talking about.
At my wedding, people thought I had two cakes b/c my card holder looked so real.
everyone thought it was a great idea. I still had people coming up to me on the dance floor to hand me the card and my hubby would take them and drop them in the box. And we didnt have any lost ones.
It was a conversation piece. There was a crowd around it where people were chatting and talking about. I still made a point to go to everyone to say hi.
We went to our cocktail hour for about 40 minutes so I got to say hi to a lot of people .
I dont think its tacky b/c I didnt ask anyone to deposit here. it was more of a storage solution. And its easy to keep an eye on it. b/c someone would notice a person walking out with a 3 tier cake. and the staff knew what it was so they could notice too.
Also at the end of the night that was the first thing we took to the car.
But to each his own.
My sister had a mailbox my dad made out of wood and my mom covered with fabric.
I am still taking orders for the wedding cake card holder if anyone is interested. You dont have to buy you can rent it.

Re: Card Boxes?

i dont think it is tacky. i agree with many of you that it is used to keep the cards safe. i totally believe in going around and greeting my guests, but i do not want to carry 100 cards filled with money or checks all night.

Re: Card Boxes?

I have to say when I am a guest at a wedding I always feel obligated to say good bye to the bride and groom. And i always feel so bad because they are getting bombarded at one time with everyone handing them something and they never can enjoy the last song of the night. So I can see why people choose this. I don't plan on using one.
