Career Help

One of my bestest friends is going through a tough time. He hasn't been able to get into a career. He is a high school graduate. He has taken so many civil service exams and applied at a few unions but so far nothing has worked out. He has taken

cout officer
suffolk police
zoning inspector
parking enforcement
correction officer
correction officer trainee

he has also applied at the plumbers union but was not selected for this year.

He is unable to obtain a CDL so trucking positions are out.

I've been wracking my brain trying to think of ideas. He lives in Nassau but is willing to work in NYC, Queens, Suffolk, Brooklyn etc.

He also isnt interested in attending college
do you girls have any ideas?

Re: Career Help

Has he tried applying for positions at colleges?

Or in hospitals as something like a pharmacy technician?

It's a good idea to check the hospital websites and see what positions they have open, he can make decent money even with an entry level job, plus there's bound to be benefits associated with it.

OR if he can find a small law firm willing to train, sometimes even without experience you can find a psoitions as a legal secretary and once her learns a little he can look for something as a paralegal.

Pharm tech and paralegal are things that most people think you need education for, but it's not absolutely necessary if you find an employer who's willing to train. NYS doesn't require any kind of cert for either position.
