carlo's bakery - cake boss

we got a quote from them this weekend. i know 99% of everyone here gets a cake included, but we dont. i have no idea whats considered reasonable for a cake. i am hoping to get a second quote from a bakery near our reception hall to compare.
we met with mauro and fell in love with him! he was wonderful and honestly worked with us to come up with a great quote - especially considering its EXACTLY what we want, its 4 tiers plus extra, and they're delivering it from jersey. however, for a cake, it probably is an insane price.
so my question is, what would you considered reasonable for a cake from carlos bakery??

I was searching for a baker on long island for a cake for our engagement party because Carlo's was too far. (We had ordered a Bday cake from Carlo's which was fantastic previously but didn't think we'd have time to go there before our eparty).

I was still unsure about finding another baker on long island, and our guests didn't mind going to see Carlo's in Jersey the day before our party, so we ordered it from there.


We got I think, it was half a sheet cake or full? I don't remember the size for $120 or 160... 120 I think... and it was fantastic again! Very moist and sooo soooo good. Didn't have anything fancy on it, just the sheet cakes with flowers, you can order that type over the phone. Otherwise we would have had to go in like you did and get a consultation.

The drive was worth it!!! I dont know what a reasonable price is for a wedding cake as our venue is including one, but the taste of Carlo's cake is fantastic! Worth it if you can afford it and its not a crazy price.

if we do decide to do it, we may have to scale back on other things like our flowers, etc. but it might be worth it! i always think food is more important than decor!
