Carlyle Wedding

FH and I are going to a wedding at Carlyle on the Green this weekend....let me know if there is anything anyone wants me to look for....

oh if its a day wedding please see if everyone is still partying..i'm so worried about it..oh and see if people are uncomfortable with the whole standing during the cocktail hour..thanks so much and take lots of pics for us..you're the greatest!!

anjerandunder, i just noticed your post---we had a daytime wedding and EVERYONE was partying! it's all about the music... our band was fantastic and had everyone up and dancing despite the fact that it was a sunday in the middle of the afternoon... I am sure yours will be just fine!

It's actually an evening wedding, but I will definitely take note of the CH, and I will take pics!

I am so upset, I can't make it to the showcase again. We actually have a bday party to go to on Thursday night, we NEVER have things to do during the week. I think my Mom and FMIL are going though, and I told them to take pics!

Sorry I didn't get this posted earlier...busy day at work!

The wedding we went to was great! I'll try to give as much detail as possible, but if you have specific questions, let me know.

First, unforunately my camera battery died, so I didn't get pics... sorry.

Ok starting with ceremony - the ceremony room at the Carlyle looked beautiful! I don't know if this was because of the florist (they had a gorgeous chuppah and candelabras' lining the aisle) but it was so romantic looking.
The CH food was very good. I think I ate my body weight in fried calamari..it was DELICIOUS! They had other seafood that I didn't try but FH said was very good (clams casino, etc.) They also had an Asian station, mashed potato bar (which was amazing and a BIG hit!!) and some carvings. Everything was really good. Someone had mentioned to note about people standing around during CH...there were people standing around in the foyer area, but there were plenty of places to sit too. There were a couple of different CH rooms which was good bc they had tables in each of them...but also there were little couches and chairs in various areas of the foyer which people were sitting on. All in all, very nice cocktail hour!
The ballroom was beautiful!! I loved all the windows and wood floors. They had low centerpieces, and although I'm personally not the biggest fan of low CP's, bc the room was so beautiful - the CP's totally worked!! The service was pretty good too - the couple didnt have menus, but all the waiters knew exactly how each entree was prepared and gave us good details. That being said, I didn't love my entree. Both FH and I got the same thing - the Mahi - and it was dry to be honest. Also, the risotto it was served with was sort of salty. The couple next to us got the sirloin - which came with a potato - and they said it was good. So, it might have just been the mahi. Oh, they also had a salad before the entree that was served with a crabcake...it was very good. Finally, dessert was great - they had a very impressive Vienesse hour..make your own sundaes, cakes, cookies, cheesecakes, etc. Even the wedding cake was good!

One thing I did note, was that for some reason the ladies bathroom smelled reallllllly bad all night. It was as if something backed up or something. FH said the guys bathroom was fine...so this was probably just a fluke, but figured I'd mention it being I distinctly remember it!

thanks for the review. very detailed. i'm a low centerpiece one too so that's good to hear.

not good about the bathroom though. but maybe i'll bring scented candles just in case!
