Carnival Cruise Review

I just got back from my carnival cruise, so I wanted to post my review in case anyone was thinking about cruising for their honeymoon. Overall I had a great time! I went with my family, so there was 8 of us. It was a 5 day cruise and we stopped in 2 ports, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. If you go to GC, swim with the Sting Rays!! For me it was probably one of the coolest things I have ever done! I actually preferred Cozumel to Grand Cayman. In Cozumel we took the Ferry to the mainland and arrived at Playa Del Carmen, it was absolutely beautiful!! We are looking into taking a vacation there next year. If you are getting married in the winter (summer is too hot) and are looking for a honeymoon place, I would check Playa del Carmen out. It's about 40 min south of Cancun. The water is beautiful, and it doesn't have the spring break feel of Cancun to it. A few things that I didn't like was that I got seasick one day. =( Not a reflection of the cruise, but a heads up to bring some motion sickness pills if you go. I also didn't like the fact that we felt rushed while we were in each port. There were so many different things that I would have like to have done at each place but didn't have the opporunity to do. The only other draw back was the one of the pools on deck was only open the last day of the cruise (and it rained) and the other pool was open for 3 days, but it had the slide, so it was all the little kids in it. But the staff was great, the boat was very clean, the food overall was good, and there was always stuff to do. Cruising is a great way to see different places, but if you really like to explore where you are at, I would recommend staying on an actual island. I hope this helps some of you a little!

Was this the Sensation ship?

I was just wondering because we are taking the 7 day cruise to Grand Cayman, Cozemul and New Orleans. I am so excited! Did you have a suite or regular room? Also did anyone swim with the dolphins in Cozemul? Thanks

Was this the Sensation ship?

I was actually on the Jubilee. I think it is there smallest ship. We didn't swim with the dolphins although I heard it was awesome. Just an FYI-that excursion was $100 pp. You'll have a great time though. Enjoy!

july3bride was transporation included?

Do you remember if the price included transportation (to and from) for the swim with the dolphins? Thanks for all your information!

Thanks for the review

My fiance has the job of planning our honeymoon but I've been trying to drop some hints. This sounds like a great cruise. Where did you leave from?

We did this for our honeymoon

We were on the Sensation last summer and we had the time of our lives. The dolphin tour was indeed $99 each but since it was our honeymoon we allowed ourselves to splurge. This does include transportation by taxi. If you want to go into town afterwards, you can take another cab and if you share with someone they're very cheap-I recall $5 for the both of us. In my opinion, it was worth it. Save yourself about $20 and buy a waterproof camera at Walmart before you leave. Don't buy it on the ship. Have fun!

Jenn P I have another question....

I believe you took the cemetary tour in New Orleans didn't you? What time did it start and what time do you think it ended? We would like to have lunch (about 1:30) at Emeril's restuarnt ( Nola) and didn't know what time to make reservations. Thanks for all your help and how is married life treating ya?

Bribe-To-Be

We had a regular room and it was the sensation ship. It was so much fun and they have tons of things going on at all hours. Also the food was amazing. Everything was so good.

Thanks for the review

We left from Tampa, but I think they also have the same cruise that leaves from Miami.

Jenn P I have another question....

I believe it started at 1:30 and ended around 3:45. It wasn't one of the tours the ship offered, we found a tourist center in town and they sold us the tickets and told us where to get a cab to. We didn't take a tour through Carnival because we figured in our own country we could rough it and explore on our own. I think we made the right choice. Married life is terrific. It's funny, before the wedding I wondering what would possibly consume my postnuptial time after all the planning. I'm so busy now with all sorts of things (fixing up the apartment, thinking of getting a new car) I can't believe I ever thought that. Any other ?s please ask!

Postnuptial time....

It' funny you mentioned that because all the girls at work were saying I will have marriage planning withdrawals. I'm sure I will find something to do with my time. Thanks again for all your help. :)
