Carnivale - what is up with this show?

I get so confused by this show. I finally realized after talking to a co-worker that in last night's episode the little boy & girl were Justin & his sister. I like it alot, but there are too many confusing things about it. Does anybody else watch this show?

I watch it and I'm still waiting for everything to come together. I just don't understand the premesis of the show. But of course I'll watch it until the end lol.

Yeah I watch the show every week.
I think I got a few things figured out.
What are you confused about? Maybe I can answer your ?.

1934. The Dust Bowl. The last great age of magic. In a time of titanic sandstorms, drought and pestilence - all signs of God's fury and harbingers of the Apocalypse - the final conflict between good and evil is about to begin. The battle will take place in the Heartland of an empire called America. And when it is over, man will forever trade away wonder for reason.

CARNIVÀLE follows a traveling carnival as it wends its way across the Dust Bowl, focusing on a mysterious young fugitive with hidden talents who is taken in by the carnival, and on the charismatic, shadowy evangelist who will ultimately cross his path. The dramatic series takes place at a time of worldwide unrest, with evil on the rise around the globe and the Great Depression wreaking economic and social havoc here at home.

As they become aware of their abilities, Ben and Brother Justin find themselves wrenched from their lives to realize that the world they thought the knew -- this tenuous, prosaic reality shared by humankind -- is actually a chessboard upon which is played the ancient conflict between Light and Darkness, and they are key players in the battle.

LOVE the show...really gets ya thinking!!

The guy that the little boy killed was his father! I didnt realize that they were bro and sis until I saw the picture at the end!!

Okay, so from what I can gather...

Ben means the Right hand of god..
Lucifer was the Right hand of God

Alexi (Brother Justin) means protector of man.

So I'm thinking that Ben is evil and Brother Justin is good.

Also Brother Justin and his Sister..
Maybe the father sent them away cause he knew Justin was a little different.
On the train Justin/Alexi, killed everyone except him and Iris, the search party were what they considered asassins.

I love it, well I just found out that Babylon is Hell according to the Bible. I didnt know that.

I love the show I guess it means they are all in hell the Carnivale members thats why none of them can leave.

I think the preacher is the devil and the young guy whats his name is God.

Thats JMO

Oh wow so Ben is the bad guy, I thought he was the good guy.

Why is the Blind guy infatuated with Ben, does he know something and whats up with Scudder who is he?

Yeah I was thinkg that too, but he seems like a bad guy? Oh very intersting, thats why Ben would be bad, everytime he heals something something dies like the fish. Apparently maybe he knows hes bad and doesnt like it.

HMMMMMMMMMMM...Wacky...I didnt even think of that...and maybe if Ben gives him his sight back, then someone has to die!! Remember, everytime he uses his power, something dies but he has been healing people with broken legs or arms but nothing so perement as blindness!!

Oh good thread. Its great hearing other people's interpretations of the show.

Babylon is definately hell. Very interesting wacky saying they can't leave because they are in hell. I like that : ). They are heading to Babylon and I think that is where the Justin and Ben are going to meet.

I do think that Ben is good though. The right hand side of god is the good side and the left is evil.....Justin said he's on the left side so he has the devil in him.

For some reason I don't think Scudder was Ben's dad...but hopefully we'll find that out soon.

Yes, they've already been to Babylon (remember how he apologizes to the mother about the girl's killing and says he wishes he stood up to management because he didn't want to go to Babylon). Do you guys also remember the dream that Ben & Justin both had which had Scudder sitting with a man who looked like an army captain. I wonder who the army captain is? Also, is the other girl (Lila I think, the one with the mother who doesn't talk - I can't remmber any names, sorry!!) pregnant?
