Carving fake pumpkins review w/ pic

I am not sure if anyone has posted about this but I recently bought like 800 (maybe really like 20) of those fake pumpkins to use as accents on bars, tables etc.

I bought the Funkin brand and then the AC Moore version and thought i'd give anyone interested in these a bit of a heads up.

1. Funkins are significantly more expensive than any of the generic brands and significantly more than I expected ($20 for a regular ol pumpkin). But catch the good deals and print out coupons.

2. The AC moore brand ******. There is no precut hole at the bottom which means you have to saw away at that before you can get started. Also, they arent nearly as convincing but the price is right

3. Regular pumpkin carving tools work BEAUTIFULY on this painted foam. no chips, no snares, and overall pretty awesome to work with. I used an exacto blade to even out lines when needed.

4. Pencil can be erased but very very gently. I'd prolly suggest making a template and spraying the design or going free hand with a sharpie only in areas that will be cut.

overall, it worked out pretty well.... here is one example with our names carved...

Hmmm, those are much thicker than the ones at Michaels. Nice job.

thanks... i didnt see the ones at michaels, but this shell is thicker cause its a larger sized pumpkin.... the tiny ones we got are definitely less than an inch thick for the rind.
