Help! Are vendors for real when they say they need an envelope with CASH in it - like we're talking sometimes $1000+.
Does anyone know if they will accept an AMEX money order? We'll be at a hotel with all this cash for various vendors, that makes me so nervous.

you can have a parent or a friend hold it for you the night before at their house if you feel more comfortable with that. You can also appoint a member of the BP or a parent to hand out the tips so you don't have to worry about it.

do you mean cash for tips or cash for their final payments? i know for the final payments many of our vendors asked for cash OR a certified check so we'll probably go with the check so we don't have to carry around the cash. we are staying in a hotel too and i would be a nervous wreck with all that cash!

DH and I paid our vendors' final payments a couple of weeks before the wedding. We just didn't want to carry around that much cash. Some were OK with personal checks but wanted to have them clear before the wedding. (I guess they've been stiffed before with bounced checks.)
Yes, it's a risk, because they're not on the hook for the final payment. Most of the ones we used, though, were LIW vendors with good reviews here. It worked out and overall, we were happy with the day-of vendors.
We still had the maitre d' and the bridal attendant tips in cash, as well as the gifts we got at the ceremony, which we were still uneasy about. We stashed them in the safe in the bridal suite at the RH. The safe there was hotel-style, so we could set our own code.
Ask your vendors if they'll accept payment beforehand (if you're comfortable with that) and ask the RH what the safe situation is there. GL.

So far my vendors are asking for cash too. I'm a little uneasy, but I think Im going to have my dad hold on to and distribute the money. But I'm going to tell him NOT to give them any money until they sign some sort of recepit acknowledging they received the money. Just can't ever be too careful when it comes to cash transactions!

What about money orders? They are the same as cash. I would ask each vendor what they suggest.

Yeah final payments are in cash or tellers/certified check and tips are in cash.

hi again :) just FM'd you but all our vendors said 'cash OR certified check' so i would check with them to see if that's the case for you too.

all of my vendors said i can pay them before bc i dont want to deal with money on the day of. either that or a bank check should work too, no? and maybe you can give that responsibility to someone.

I got my DJ's contract today and it says certified check or money order. This makes me feel better. Also, the limos can be put on a credit card ahead of time to hold the date, then I think they said we can pay by credit card the day of.

Pretty much everyone of our vendors requires cash or a certified check as the final payment.
