As I am doing my monthly household bills, how much are you paying in cash for the wedding (dress, flowers, gifts etc), then living off of, and how much are you charging (dress, flowers, music, etc...)....I want to pay as much as I can in cash but just don't see that happening, knowing how much in monthly bills we have...Tell me I am not the only one!! I must be dreaming that we can afford this wedding!!!

We are using credit for whatever we can so we can get the mileage. We already have enough for two RT tickets to Europe we're gonna use for the honeymoon. Of course the Amex gets paid off every month anyway, so it's totally worth it.

That's great for you guys that could afford to pay cash for your wedding. We didn't happen to have 40 grand laying around unfortunatly so everything is being charged.......... Really sux but I at least we are having the wedding we want.

we put everything on credit cards and paid them off in full as soon as we got the bill, or wrote checks. i wanted to make sure that i had a record of the money i was giving to people in case anyone tried to screw with me. so, in effect, since we paid everything off right away, we paid for everything in cash. we had no debt after the wedding....even though we went over budget by a bit.....

The reception hall and my dress we put the deposits on CC. We pay the reception hall each month on my CC, but it get's paid each month in full. The deposit for the photo/video was paid by CC but paid that month. We plan on paying more towards the photo/video in June by check when we take our e-pics.
The day of coordinator is paid in full by check, the flowers are almost all paid off by check, the deposit for the limos was paid by check, the invitations paid in full by pen pal (the ebay way to pay, FI handle that), and the DJ deposit by check and paying off more each by check.
I like checks because I have a receipt and it comes out of our wedding account.

We are trying to pay most of it in cash-many vendors will not charge us tax if we pay cash and on the big $ vendors the tax is a lot! In the end, I have a feeling my cards will be on fire though...but I am going to try my hardest to avoid it!...except for the HM...that will be charged and gifts unfortuntaly!

Charge everything.. then if there is a problem you can charge it back. We have all the cash to pay for the wedding but we still charge and then pay it off each month. It also helps build credit and accumulate points/miles.

Our wedding is paid in cash- completely. We didn't want to start our new life together in debt. The only way we did this was to have a 2 year engagement- otherwise, it never would have happened!
