Cassarino update and advice

Hi Ladies,
Some of you may know (most of you may not) that I had an issue w/ Cassarino. Before I even found this website I went wedding crazy and booked alot of my vendors. While I DO NOT!!!! regret my choice I thought I would pass on my advice. When I went into Cassarino's (many months ago) I immediately fell in love will ALL their albums and ALL of their proofs ( I did shop around though). I was sure to get ALMOST everything in writing. My mistake was not having the photographer's name in the contract. I thought I was free to pick the photographer who's work I liked best. NOT THE CASE!!!! They base it on what you spend. Since my package was not more than $3G's I was limited to who I could choose. I was LIVID!!!!! Finally I went to see proofs from the photographer that was chosen for me and I LOVED THEM!!!!! If I hadn't I'm sure tehy would have worked something out but I was happy with what I saw. Just an FYI- Get the name of the photographer IN you contract.

That is wonderful advice Karina, and you are so right, I made sure I had the name of mine that very 1st day and it's definitely on the contract. I even confirmed this like 2 times already

Good for you Karina. That's great that you like the photographer and it worked out for you.
I went through same situation as you. I forgot to add John from VIP as my 'main' photographer in the contract. This was one of the 'must' haves on the contract for me. Forgot. He wrote it in the contract a couple of weeks later with no problem.
Doesn't it feel good to have a vendor you can rely on?

I did not use Cassarino for my wedding, but one of my cousins did. I was just looking at the pics we took at her wedding the other day, and I noticed something that maybe the brides who did book w/Cassarino would want to know about.

My cousin's reception was at the Carlyle on the Green, which has a very beautiful, but very large ballroom. You can easily fit 300 people in this room, and with slightly less than 200, her room was a little sparse at times. But I digress.

Our table was set up near one of the corners in the room, and much to our surprise when we sat down, we had a HUGE flash CONSTANTLY going off in our FACES. It was so annoying! This flash was set up by the photographer, and there were others positioned in opposite corners around the room. They were all hooked into the photographer's equipment so that everytime he snapped a shot, the flashed simultaneously flooded the room with white light.

This is not necessarily a bad thing....so before any Cassarino brides get upset over what I am saying, make sure you discuss this technique with them. We found it to be very disruptive to our enjoyment that day, but it is possible that b/c of the size of the ballroom, the photographer had to find a way to adequately light the room while taking photos. I am not really sure why the flash on his camera wasn't enough, but I am also not a professional photographer. I do know that with medium format film, you need brighter lighting, so maybe that's the reason. Just something to keep in mind during your next meeting!

I am really glad that you saw your photographers work and loved it. After our LIweddings get together I went back to the studio I am using and looked at both photograhers work that we are using, and sat and talked with the second one. I feel much better about my choice (again). Hooray for us
