Not to start any drama but there are 2 votes for 'not voting'. Hopefully you are not registered or something. I can imaging having this privilege and not using it.I just had to get that out. I'm sorry if I offend anyone. Really I'm not trying to be a b!tch. I take the election process kind of serious.

Re: Cast your vote here: LI Weddings Presidential Poll
I sent in my absentee ballot the other day... it was the first time I voted... FH is a history teacher and really made me realize that voting is a right that not everyone has... and it is a privilidge that no one should take advantage of... I am glad that I finally got out and voted...!!!

I agree with you 110% ! This is one of MANY valuable rights we have as American citizens that I feel many take for granted.

I did go to vote today, but I do know people who aren't voting, and their reasoning is that it doesn't matter. In NYS, Kerry is going to get the electoral votes. So the theory is, if you support Bush, it's hopeless. If you support Kerry, you already won in NY.

That's not a good way to think. If you do support Kerry and you don't vote, that could swing the electoral votes to Bush. And if you support Bush, you should vote in case people don't get out and your vote changes the outcome.

Re: Cast your vote here: LI Weddings Presidential Poll
I was not going to vote, but a still considering. I support too many issues that are spread out across the board so picking a single candidate is not possible.I don't really know what to do about it. I would rather not vote, than vote for someone I don't believe in. I had had many conversdations with people about this and people say just pick one. Uh uh, no way. I need to pick someone I can stand by at least 75% and for me, there aren't any. So, if I don't vote, that will be my reason why.

I felt the same way all week. I was struggling because I couldn't justify voting for one of them when I agreed with issues on both sides, but still disliked both candidates!

Re: Cast your vote here: LI Weddings Presidential Poll
I also feel stronly that people should get out and vote becasue it is every citizen's right. I guess I can understand people not voting if they can't decide. What I don't get is people saying that they aren't going to vote because their vote won't count anyway...HELLO, look at the 2000 election...every vote counted in Florida (supposedly

Re: Cast your vote here: LI Weddings Presidential Poll
To anyone considering not voting because you are unsure who to vote for in the Presidential election, there are many other elections going on. This kills me when people say this - it's the same as saying 'I only vote in the important elections.' Um, hate to break it to you but the elections for your local officials affect you way more than any president.Voting is quite literally the least you can do.

You are right about the state, but isn't Long Island primarily Republican? I expected different results on this. Great idea to poll everyone. I'm going to watch how this turns out.
Did you all hear? By 12 noon today, more people had already voted as did in the entire 2000 election. People do realize how important this election is and I'll be going soon myself. I'm taking a book to read. The lines are long.

Long Island is Republican. But NYC (5 boroughs) is overwhelmingly Democrat. Newsday.com has a very interesting thing where you click on a county and it tells you the registered voters, and whether they are R or D.

Yes, and if it's this close in a state that is mostly democratic, imagine the repubican states.

Re: Cast your vote here: LI Weddings Presidential Poll
I believe that even if you don't really care who wins it because you don't like either, consider it the chicken before the egg theory. So many people, mainly women and minorities, don't vote because politicans are not paying attention to our needs and issues, well newsflash, they don't have to because these people don't vote anyway. Vote and maybe in 4 years, the next candidate will appeal to you because they are aiming to gain your voteWelcome New Vendors
