I know politics is such a sensetive topic to discuss. I do not know all that much about each and every politician, but I know that it is important to vote, ESPECIALLY for the 'smaller' less publicized elections. They are the ones that represent us in Washington and Albany. They are OUR voices, so as someone else pointed out, if you can not choose a person to vote for in the presidential election, at least get out and vote for the local elections.

I feel sorry that there are so many people that don't vote.

I cant understand the reasoning behind not voting because you don't know who to vote for.

don't mean to flame but I would rather myself make the decision rather then let someone else make it for me!

Isn't that the whole point?
We as a country have fought for this and as women fought even harder.
I consider it my 'duty' (how ever cheesy that may sound) as an American women to participate.
To me it's a slap in the face of the people who fought for us to have this right not to vote.

I did go to vote today, but I do know people who aren't voting, and their reasoning is that it doesn't matter. In NYS, Kerry is going to get the electoral votes. So the theory is, if you support Bush, it's hopeless. If you support Kerry, you already won in NY.

That reasoning might seem okay for 1 person, but if you multiple that by the thousands of people that might be thinking that same thing, you have just affected the outcome of the election. IMHO, EVERY VOTE COUNTS! Sorry if this comes across mean, but my coworkers and I have been talking about this all morning and it just makes me angry.

Wow...I can't believe some of you think its hopeless to vote. I'm a democrate and even though I believe NY will have Kerry...u never know...but even if (when pigs fly) I was a Bush supporter there wouldnt be any way in hell that I would think my vote was pointless.

Why is that so hard to understand? How would you like people like me to make that decision? Close our eyes and go 'eeny meeny miney mo'? I mean, if I don't vote, I am making an educated decision not to. I would rather that than make an uneducated decision to vote for someone you know othing about.

And reallyjust because you have a right doesn't always mean you should use it. We all have the right to carry a gun. Should we all utilize that right? I know several people who shouldn't.

I was not going to vote, but a still considering. I support too many issues that are spread out across the board so picking a single candidate is not possible.

I don't really know what to do about it. I would rather not vote, than vote for someone I don't believe in. I had had many conversdations with people about this and people say just pick one. Uh uh, no way. I need to pick someone I can stand by at least 75% and for me, there aren't any. So, if I don't vote, that will be my reason why.

I felt the same way all week. I was struggling because I couldn't justify voting for one of them when I agreed with issues on both sides, but still disliked both candidates!

I think every person should go out and vote, regardless if you think Kerry will win the state or not. NYC might be democratic, but the rest of the state might not be. Look at the governor and the mayor, hello, both are republican. and LI is definitely republican.
If you are a bush supporter and don't think it will matter if your vote counts, you are already giving up. Each vote counts.

I actually voted in Virginia... i was thinking that my vote wasn't going to count since VA is usually overwhelmingly republican.. but, according to an article i read, va is 'barely bush' so you never know, a handful of voters could swing it the other way

All i know is, I can't wait till it's over. I'm sick of getting im'd by friends who are trying to sway me the other way, or start an argument.

To me by not voting you are letting someone else decide for you.
I am an opinionated person who likes to make my own decisions so that is why I vote.

It may not always be a clear cut decision.
Of course there may be things you agree with and disagree with on each candidate but prioritizing what is more important to me helps me make that decision.
Pro Life, Pro Choice, The environment, Education, Stem Cell Research, Gay marriage.
Every one has an opinion on these things and each candidate takes a relatively different approach. The things that matter most to me aid me and thousands of other voters in there decisions.

I guess I can see how it's hard to make a choice especially in this election but for me not voting is not an option.

P.S. We all don't have the right to carry a gun. It's certainly not legal for me to carry a 9mm around NY state.
