Casual Engagement Party Ideas

Casual Engagement Party Ideas

We have a little over 100 people attending our engagement party. Can anyone recommend a good place to have the party? I wanted someplace casual but with a # of 100, not too many casual places can fit that. What are some of your idea's?

Looking forward to hearing your suggestions.

omg laurie, i was you three months ago!!! LOL

SAME exact problem. i was originally going to have a yard party with tents in the beautiful summer weather... my sister did the same thing, GREAT idea but for us it was more money than we wanted to spend with all the rentals...

but that depends on how you want to do it-- so i recommend that... otherwise the place i went with was tellers in islip (used to be a bank) they are great, amazing food, good service and the place is so elegant. i'm having a nice luncheon on a sunday afternoon in july from 1-5 and then a smaller amount of people can come back to the house to relax and stay as long as they want.

if you contact tellers, speak to lena-- she's great!

HTH... i called so many places but NO one could fit us except them-- well, no one except reception halls but again, like you i wanted casual!!

We had a casual engagement party at my house and we only served finger foods and all sorts of cake and cookies and we had a punch and all sorts of wines, it was very relaxed and casual. A nice get together to celebrate our engagement.

welllll i never said 'cheap' lol but i don't think it's expensive either... i feel, for what we are getting, it's a great deal but it's not in the $20 a person range. keep in mind they have different packages and ours was not the least expensive so it goes cheaper then this but you get less.... we are paying about $40 a person, we personalized the menu. each person is getting a choice of a soup or two salads (mixed greens or caesar), then a choice of four or five different apps (clams, mussels, calamari, mozz/prosc, etc), then a choice of five entrees including filet mignon, salmon, chicken, duckling and a pasta with marinara and seafood in it... plus, they offer dessert but we are having our own cake so they will just offer cheesecake, coffee, tea, etc if anyone doesn't like the occasion cake. they were GREAT to work with and very upscale but i didn't feel like i was paying a lot (for what i was getting) and it came in at about 2000 cheaper than the yard and a lot less work for me and FH... BTW, that price also includes unlimited beer (no matter what kind), wine and soda (their wine is upscale wine--their cheapest bottle is 40 bucks so it gives you an idea of what you are paying for, it's not boxed wine lol)... that also includes unlimited day drinks (bellinis, mimosas, bloody mary's, etc) which i talked them into including-- just incase someone likes a mixed drink... anything besides that is not included but i highly doubt anyone will be having straight vodka or scotch at 2pm in the afternoon on a sunday

so i hope that gives you a better idea!! i should have been more clear when i first posted, sorry-- but check them out if you want.

Hey guys!!! Great idea's. I live in Suffolk so preferably there. Naussau wouldnt be such a bad idea either since most people are coming from west of us. i really wanted just a tent in the backyard but neither parents can fit that many. Any other idea's wouldnt be great. Thanks everyone!

Re: Casual Engagement Party Ideas

We are having our engagement party this Friday at a restaurant called Indigo in Huntington. It's just a cocktail party. The price is good for us b/c its just apps & drinks ....not a sit down dinner. I would check them out. I'll post after our party and let you know how it was
