Cat Dilemma??

Cat Dilemma??

My dh and I went looking for a kitten yesterday. Our dilemma is that we both work until late. He gets home around 5:00 and I get home around 6:30ish..

Do you recommend a kitten? dh wants an older cat (around 6 or 7 months old) because they are more tame.

Can I have a kitten if we are not home all day? If so, how do you prevent it from scratching and making a mess of things while we are out all day.

Also, how do you take care of it while you are away for the weekends or on a weeks vacation, etc.??

What do you guys think cat or kitten?

We got 2 kittens....we figured that they could keep each other occupied. Mostly, kittens/cats sleep 18 hours a day....so they will probably sleep most of the time you are at work. They are not like dogs in that they can stay by themselves for a weekend.

DH and I also got two kittens (brother and sister) and for the first month or so, we put them in a room with food, a litter box and a blanket (nothing they could break) during the day and we would let them out when we got home. Then one weekend after hearing one of the cry when we put them in the room, we let them have the run of the place and they are so happy
