we have this adorable kitten who now thinks our home is his/her home....shes black on top and white on the botton...ADORABLE, SUPER friendly(lets us pet her, hold her, rubs up against us), ahhh!! She waits for us every morning and night!
so we cant take her in (i tried!!) but i dont want her getting sick and I want her to be in a good home!
so my questions: 1. does anyone want her? 2. where can i take her?! i do not want to take her to a kill shelter and if i take her to north shore, i will not be able to adopt ever! (what happend when you surrender an animal, even if it isnt yours)
Thanks so much ladies!! xo <3

Re: Cat lovers...PLEASE help!!!!! ASAP!
I wouldn't recommend craigslist - I'm an animal rights activist and there are plenty of people who will seem nice and normal when responding to an adoption ad, only to actually be someone who works in a facility that tests it's products on animals. I don't want to scare you, and I'm sure Jackie never thought that there are some real freaky deakys out there
Little Shelter is suppossed to be very good: Little Shelter
Here's another - though I've never heard of them, they are a no-kill shelter: Kent Shelter
North Shore can be an option for you if you have a sibling or one of your parents take the kitty there - then they won't have your info on file if/when you choose to adopt from there.
Unfortunately, we're still in kitten season and the shelters do fill up quickly. Make a lot of calls early tomorrow morning, hopefully someone will be able to take in the kitty! Good luck!

One more thing - call some local vets and see if they recommend someone. There are lots of shelter out there, not just the ones I listed above!

Another person to try calling is Last Hope--- I'm not sure if they are a no kill shelter, but they may be able to point you in the right direction. I wish I could take the kitten in... if I were living NOT at my parents' house, I def would. But they won't let anymore animals in unfortunately. If you have to, have someone else take it to North Shore. It's better than a kill shelter for sure!

i just got a kitten from kent animal shelter. it is really nice but i know they fill up quickly. last time i was there i heard them turning people away because they were at max. capacity. but it is still worth checking, especially if you live out east!

Re: Cat lovers...PLEASE help!!!!! ASAP!
Oh, if you can please take her!!!!
North Shore is a no kill facility, but they have literally hundreds upon hundreds of cats that do not have homes! My mom tried to bring a cat she found in her yard( she already has 3) there and they showed us the 'storage ' room of cats. Literally hundreds of cat cages piled on top of one another and they told us there are so many that they will never reach the adoption floor in their lifetime. They will literally spend their whole lives in a cage!

Kent is really good they spayed and neutered all my cats that I rescued..I even brought some of the kittens I rescued to the Brookhaven shelter and i told them if they didn't find homes I would take them back...they got adopted in 3 days. You just have to pay for their shots which I think was like $13

Kent is really good but if they dont have room, you are not far from Bide-a-Wee in westhampton which is where i adopted my kittens from. they are no kill, and have a really wonderful and loving cat facility and kittens get adopted there quickly!

Re: Cat lovers...PLEASE help!!!!! ASAP!
i called little shelter a few months ago and they had said they werent accepting any more kittens, but try caling anyway, also, i see cats at my vet. sometimes they take them in.
go to petfinder.com and if you search a cat you can find a listing of a bunch of shelters.

Re: Cat lovers...PLEASE help!!!!! ASAP!
be careful about advertising on craigslist....i'm in the exact same situation and decided to put the cat on craigslist...well i got a dozen emails from people warning me about it b/c there are lots of people who will take the cat and then use it for animal testing. so just be careful....people told me to do vet checks to make sure. i had a few people interested and then i asked for vet references, well all of a sudden they didn't want the cat!

Re: Cat lovers...PLEASE help!!!!! ASAP!
Save-a- pet in Port Jefferson will take strays and will not kill them. Also if they can't find them a good home I believe they keep them.
Awwww sounds soo cute I hope you find a good place for him
ETA: if you are nesr Riverhead Petco there is a no kill shelter that you can adopt kittens through there. It might be worth the drive to find out info on them. I don't remember the name of them.
Or the vet I use. Center Moriches Vet, also has cats on site that I assume were strays try them. They are really nice there and very caring.
Oh another one... Brookhaven Cat Hospital in Coram is really good. IDK if they take cats but I am sure they know a safe place for him, they specialize in only cats so they are very helpful

instead of shelters why dont you put flyers up around work and your neighborhood supermarkets. you might be able to find someone to take her that way. i wish I can take her but FH is so allergic to cats.

C - I'll also put in word with my best friend; she's a vet tech at an animal hospital here in Queens; I know it's a little far but maybe she knows of someone looking for a kitten
Also wanted to add - I love how so many people on here are into adopting animals and know of so many shelters! Seriously, it warms my heart.

Re: Cat lovers...PLEASE help!!!!! ASAP!
Try Valley Stream Cat Rescue. We called them and they are very helpful with Strays. We have two cats in our neighborhood that are 'residents' and they came and Nutured them. I think they even find them homes too.
I have two kitties, Rocco and Bella, and they would take revenge on my shoes if I bring home another cat. But I will ask around for sure also.
