Cat Topic Pt 2 (promise it will be my last!)

So 3 times a week, FH and I don't get home until 11pm (he is in grad school and I work late).

I was considering getting a cat sitter, who will come to my apt and feed & play with the cats and also empty the litter box. This is huge b/c FH is like gagging every time he has to empty it ( ) and I'd feel better if someone stopped by to make sure the cats haven't lit anything on fire.

He thinks it's a waste of money (it's $17/day for 30 min).

Thoughts/opinions???

i agree that it's a waste of money ...

you can always buy a second litter box and the smell won't be as bad.

also, cats are independent ... they don't need someone to visit and play with them.

Cats are pretty independent...honestly $51/week seems like a huge waste of money to me. Do you have any friends/relatives that would do it for you for less/free?

I don't think its something you need...my cat gets whiny when we've been away for a couple of days, but not for a couple of hours.

Just get another cat!

My 2 babies play with each other allll day. I was worried that Champ wasn't getting enough playtime (they're indoor only) and I got DB so he could have a playmate.

ye cats really dont need anyone to entertain them or baby sit them. it actually gets on their nerves (or at least that is what happens with mine)
just make sure that they have food and the kitty litter is clean when leaving the house that morning

Naaahhh...waste of $$$$.

I've had cats since the day I was born...they're super independant. THey sleep for 18 hours a day sometimes.

Make sure your litter box has a LOT of litter in it. They need to cover up their poo and pee. It'll stink a lot less if they can cover it.

Buy them toys that they can play with, without someone there. Like those little wheel things with the balls in them, or bouncy balls.

Part of me wants to say spend the money but that's only because my good friend's g/f does this and I'd love to get her some business.

But I think it's a complete waste of money. Especially $17 a day! That's !

ETA: It's even more wasteful because there are two of them! They will definitely be able to keep each other entertained.

go out and get one of the boxes thats self cleaning. that way you can come home and just empty the drawer out. It;'s worth it. My friend has one.

You don't need a sitter. Your cat is probably sleeping most of the day anyway.
