Re: catering hall troubles...
We got married at Timber Point last October and the food was excellent. (However, we had a brunch wedding, so we probably had different foods than you'll be having. But people loved the food, and so did I.) There's two fireplaces, one in the foyer and one on the dance floor. I'm pretty sure that the one in the foyer can't get lit with a fire, but they'll put pretty candles in there and decorate it beautifully. We used the mantle on the dance floor (and the round table in the foyer) to display family photos, and I think it looked great.
I loved TP for the same reasons Pencils did - not-too-formal atmosphere (we loved that it felt like a home, not a mansion or reception hall), the dance floor to the side (so all the focus wasn't on whether you were dancing or not), the great management and food. You can't go wrong if you pick it. :) (Just stick to dealing with Neil - try not to deal with Lenore if you can help it. She's a bit too scattered with the details.)

a very small place? a very small, cozy, QUAINT!!, place is the roslyn claremont hotel in roslyn. my dh's family has a patyy there every new years eve and the ballroom is beautiful. . . !
other than that. . . villa lombardi's isn't HUGE but isn;t small but cozy i think, i loved that place. and the food, OMG!!! theres nothing like it!!!!!!! and if you look into have a late fall or early spring wedding, it will be more affordable. mine was a high pp because it was a friday night in july, fourth of july weekend, and because i had every extra possible. . .
westbury manor is kinda cozy and quaint, as well . . . . food is very good there!!! so is the service!!!
try the three village inn. its a hystorical land mark setting in the village of stony brook its absolutly beautiful. i think yoiu would love it

I AM biased! But with good reason… Hamlet Willow Creek is gorgeous and has a fireplace and there is only one wedding at a time. It is reasonably priced with an amazing menu. The Catering Manager – Barbara - is WONDERFUL. She really REALLY knows her stuff and she just amazes me. Anyone I know who has been to a wedding at HWC has absolutely raved…and the brides on this board who have been married there seem to do nothing but rave.
It is really worth checking out!

You can try Meadowedge at The West Sayville Country Club. There are three different fireplace in the room. We are getting married there. The set up is a little different but the sit down areas is very intimate and cozy and then behind you is the 'party' area. They have great prices. We got it for $85,which includes everything for a saturday night wedding. The manager Steve is great. If you want further information FM me.
