Re: Catering Halls?
Chateau La Mer! Great prices, yummy food and terrific service... Right on the Great South Bay, with floor to ceiling windows.
We picked it cuz we had gone to a wedding there a LONG time ago and it just made such an impression on us that we knew we wanted ours there. We've been to about 15 other locations for weddings, showers, parties, etc, and the only other place we were interested in seeing again was Villa Lombardis, but they would have been out of our price range...
I chose Harbor Club b/c the offered an amazing price, and theye are extremely professional. I am a prefectionist when it somes to servce and presentation, and they definately impressed me.
Their staff was impeccably presented and trained, the food was incredible, their presentation was picture-perfect, and their management was open to many of our non-traditional wishes.
They only do one wedding at a time, which was #1 on my list. Also, the view from the rooms are amazing. It is right on the Huntington Harbor, and the back of the entire building is glass so you can ALWAYS see the view. We planned the CH time so the sun would set during CH and the guests loved it... I had so many of my guests send me pictures of the sunset!
It was a great place to work with & I am so glad I chose them.

We visited Chateau La Mer because we were only checking out places on the water. We fell in love with it because they offered the most for the money, had recently renovated everything, had beautiful views, and the food was great. As an added bonus, they have a mini yaght that we'll sail up to the CH on!

Re: Catering Halls?
I chose the Holbrook Country Club for several reasons:
1. Food and staff - out of this world. Chris, the Banquet Manager, is so willing to make the day perfect for you.
2. Facility is very simple and elegant (wicker chairs though). Beautiful grounds i.e. lake, gazebo
3. My favorite part - there is a huge domed skylight!!
4. Great price.
I love it and so far am very happy with my choice.

Re: Catering Halls?
We chose Sunset Harbour for many reasons:
Everyone there is so nice and helpful!!!
Prices are very affordable!
They were willing to lower their minimum so we could have it there in the bigger room (smaller wedding).
Food was AWESOME! (Free Taste testing was before we booked) Cake was awesome too!!!
On the water
Sunset will be right out the window behind us.

Watermill!!
1. The place is beautiful, classy, but not to gaudy.
2. Everyone there was super nice.
3. The food (from what I have hear) is fantastic.
4. Scotto bros. have a great reputation.
5. They gave us a fantasic price.
6. I fell in love with it after visiting over 30 catering halls!

Re: Catering Halls?
We had ours at Larkfield Manor . We loved it!! The food and service was amazing. We had a very large guest list and their room was able to accomodate us. I was just at a wedding at Miller Place Inn (this past Friday) and it was great! The food was good and I love the grounds of the place.

Re: Catering Halls?
We visited a few places- out favorites were .... Watermill and Land's End. We also visited Villa's and PJCC.
My sister had her wedding at Flowerfield- same owners as Land's End and it was amazing- food, service, everything. We felt that Land's End was too far east for us.
As soon as I walked into the ballroom at the Carlyle I knew it was 'the one'. The elegance and views are amazing!
Good Luck on your search!

Re: Catering Halls?
Vanderbilt mansion. I wanted something different than the typical catering hall. Thought about vineyards but, no one would even call me back, if they did they were nasty and i didn't want to deal with finding all of the vendors, tents etc on my own.
Vanderbilt has water, couryard that is to die for, an amazing old fashioned feel and history. I won't need to go anywhere to take pictures and the food is endless!!!!
Also same caterer as flowerfields.

Re: Catering Halls?
We chose Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle, about 30-40 minutes from Garden City, after looking at over 30 reception halls. Here's why: 1) It's right on the water with incredible views 2) We could have our wedding on a Saturday night with a guarantee of only 125 people 3) We've heard nothing but great things about the staff and food. After our tasting, I can say that the food is better than most NYC restaurants and even impressed my future FIL who, at first, was not entirely on board for how expensive this wedding is going to be. 4) The chapel room is gorgeous!!! We're getting married at 7pm, sort of near sunset, and I can only imagine the incredible pictures we're going to have.

I have heard good and bad things about thatched cottage. I should go look at it. I am not sure were the Riveria is but, I think I got turned of by the pictures( I think the place had wicker chairs). Port Jeff country club is over my budget.
I don't know if you were looking at pictures from their old website or not, but the Riviera doesn't have wicker chairs. This is the new website in case you want to take a look.
