catholic brides

do you invite the priest who is performing your mass to the reception?

we really dont know him unitl before the wedding planning begun and we only have met with him twice during the entire planning

If you did ask the priest to the reception, how did you ask him?--invitation, verbally, or how????

We are being married by a deacon in an RC church. He said he usually comes to the cocktail hour to say 'hello' and then disappears.

We are inviting the priest verbally to the reception. We are going to seat him as well. We want to ask him to do a blessing before dinner as well. I think it is up to you if you want to invite him or not. We know the priest who is marrying us because we go to church very regularly and speak with him. He also know's FH father and mother well. It is your decision though.

We sent an invitation to our priest but won't be coming. He has another obligation.

We met with our priest last week to finalize everything with him. While we were there I said- our reception starts at 6:30 and we would love it if you'd be able to join us! He thanked us for inviting him and said he didn't know what his schedule is like, so could not give us an answer. I'm going to leave it at that, and if he decides to come, then we'll have to get a spot for him!

We are inviting the priest to our reception. He is a personal friend of the family.

I'm not inviting the priest who is marrying me. I don't really know him and have only met with him 2 times. If you do invite him, I think a verbal invite is fine :)

we are inviting our priest because he is family and wouldve been invited anyway!!! he is my dads first cousin, and both fh and I have seen him numerous times! i think i heard that they 'should' be invited though, maybe not formally, but at least by word of mouth. we are not a 'religous' family, but my parents think we should have a full mass because it is family that is performing it..... we said no because we just arent into it... so we are having just a 'ceremony'. we will be asking him to say a blessing at dinner though!

I think it's nice to do and if you choose so, I would send an invitation. Not verbal. It seems very 'last moment' to me. If I was him I would feel that way at least!
