Catholic brides having a full mass....

Are you having an opening and closing song to start and end the mass in addition to the processional and recessional? I've seen it both ways and just wondering what everyone is doing?

Re: Catholic brides having a full mass....

I am only having the processional and recessional songs to start and end. What other songs are everyone using during the mass (ie...responsorial song, the unity candle song, the pres. of gifts song & the communion song) ?

Re: Catholic brides having a full mass....

Off the topic here..
But how long is the full mass? I am having just the ceremony and was wondering how long that would be. I thought it was about 30 minutes.

Re: Catholic brides having a full mass....

ours was about 35-40 minutes for a full mass. On the processional, we had a song for the BP and a song for me. And then a recessional song, unity candle, communion song, etc.

I Can't remember anything but:
BP Processional: Canon in D
Me & Dad Processional: Trumpet Voluntary

Re: Catholic brides having a full mass....

I am having a full mass (last almost 1 hour, similar to a regular mass on Sunday)
I am having songs sung at various points in the mass. I also hired a harpist instead of an organ. The soloist will sing a few things as guests enter.
Then I have:
mother's enterance: Ava Maria (instrumental only)
BMs- Prelude by Bach (instrumental)
bridal enterance- Life is Beautiful Theme (instrumental)
Responsorial Psalm- Together (sung by soloist)
Gospel Acclamation- Celtic Alluh (sp? sung by soloist)
Presentation of Gifts- didn't pick one yet
Communion song- How Beautiful (sung by soloist
Recessional- Concerto in B Flat by Handal (instrumental)
Hope this helps.

Re: Catholic brides having a full mass....

A full mass consists of the communion and something else right? Geez I can't believe I can't remember it. Oh wait a minute offering of the gifts!

Lisat how was your mass so short?

So I am assuming that the ceremony alone is about 30 minutes. I am waiting for the rectory to open to get my question answered by them.

Re: Catholic brides having a full mass....

I guess they have shorter masses at my church. They schedule weddings only an hour and a half apart, so there's no time to waste. I thought maybe I made up the time, but Al agrees that its was about 40 minutes.

It was a nice length - our priest is not one for long winded speeches. We had all the pieces.

Re: Catholic brides having a full mass....

Now that I see the list just posted, I know we also used the irish wedding song and there is love.

We had music playing while guests arrived as well.

Re: Catholic brides having a full mass....

BTW thanks all of you for the list of songs used in your mass. Eventually I will be asking about this too.
Thanks for who wrote the original post. Great question.
