Catholic brides. .. is this true?!?

Catholic brides. .. is this true?!?

I read this on another site and was wondering if it was true. If it is I might do it as we are not getting married at church, so this would make my mom's day.

Catholic Marriage Blessing
Did you know that if you are Catholic, you can have your marriage blessed by the Pope himself?
You need simply send one of your wedding invitations to the Vatican for a blessing, along with a donation.
You will then be sent a papal blessing which can be framed and treasured for a life time for it's deep and special meaning.
Ask your priest to provide you with information on precisely where and whom to address the invitation.

My Grandparents and Aunt & Uncle had/have the Papal Blessing framed in their homes!

I am not sure of the process but it is true!

To get a Benediction Papalis, visit your diocese's Chancery Office. They will have you fill out paperwork, answering questions pertaining to the sort of blessing you want, what language you want the certificate to be written in, what style of certificate you want, etc. They will need the full name of your priest, parish, town and country so there is witness to the fact that you are, indeed, Catholic (you can just call the Chancery's office and they will send you the papers).

The cost is around $40, the proceeds from which go to feed the poor. To be safe, allow 6 months to receive your certificate if you're wanting it by a certain date

Beware: don't try to get a Papal Blessing through the internet or some mailing you might receive: scammers are out there. Be sure to go through your diocese!

Prefettura della Casa Pontifica
00120 Citta del Vaticano, Italia

Quick question, do you know if having a deacon preside (we have decided to have a ceremony not full mass will affect whether you can receive blessing?

Any brides from Queens (who are in diocese of brooklyn) who have gotten information about Papal Benediction.

So excited...

Is this the real address that I can send to as well or did you have to fill out the paperwork?

It is true and they are beautiful. I can't get one because my fiance is not Catholic. The rules are that both must be Catholic and you have to have been married in a Catholic church. You can go to the rectory of the church you are going to be married in for details. They will have a catalog and everything.
