I'm having the ceremony but not the mass. Do I still have two readings and people bringing up the gifts?

Definitely no gifts because if its not a mass, then you don't have communion.

Re: Catholic Brides ques.
For a ceremony, there is NO mass; therefore, no one brings up the gifts. Bringing up the gifts is when the bread and water/wine are brought up to the altar to be consecrated during the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
A ceremony consists ONLY of the Liturgy of the Word and wedding vows. Therefore, you can have up to 4 people read at a ceremony... 1. you need a reader for the Old Testament Reading 2. Responsorial Psalm - this can be read too....although it is usually sung by your cantor 3. you need a reader for the New Testament Reading
NO reading for the Gospel... only the priest or deacon can read the Gospel
4. A reader for the Prayer of the Faithful (the petitions) You could even have two here... i've seen that done where the two people alternate the petitions... The priest or deacon can read this for you, but I think it's much nicer when you have a family member or friend do it as your petitions are personal prayers... for exmaple, you pray for the dead (you can mention specific family members names here) you pray for the couple, etc. and i tihnk it's nice coming from someone who knows the people being prayed for.
HTH......

Re: Catholic Brides ques.
you're welcome!!! good luck!
i also just posted a Catholic Mass template on the '07 board that might help you... You would only do the LITURGY of the WORD and the RITE of MARRIAGE section.

Re: Catholic Brides ques.
YOu need at least 2 readers-1 for NT reading and 1 for teh OT reading. It is not necessary to have someone read the prayer of the faithful unless you want it. There are no gifts-tho if I remember correctly you can do them but you must tell the person over seeing your ceremony of this.
