Catholic Brides- Question about readings

HI girls

Just want to make sure- what do we have to select for the readings?

Reading from the Old Testament & New Testament

Prayers of the faithful

Do we pick from the Gospel or does the priest?

TIA ladies.

Ask your priest / deacon about the gospel reading. At our church, the deacon said not to pick the gospel reading without talking to the officiant first... Sometimes the priest / deacon prefers to pick the gospel...

Usually, you pick the gospel, though.

You pick the Gospel....

You also pick the Responsorial Psalm which goes between the First and second readings.

although i'm no longer catholic, i would advice that you speak to the priest who will marry you. everyone has their own style and preference.

i chose a reading from the Old Testament... from the Book of Ruth.

Some priests will want to pick the gospel themselves, so you should double-check with whomever is marrying you. You usually get to pick the gospel, but not always.

ETA We were told not to pick the gospel reading until after we speak with our priest for this very reason.
