How much does it cost to get married in a catholic church. I just need a ballpark number so I don't have a heartattack when I go to ask my priest.
TIA

Re: Catholic church expence
My church is costing close to $500.00 which includes the precana and not the music for the ceremony. Every church is different.

We are paying $500 for the church, and we paid $75.00 for pre-cana. The church has increased there 'donation' to $700 since we booked it.

Re: Catholic church expence
oh god don't even get me started...
our church 'donation' is $600!!! that does not include a priest!! the parish priest said that he would not do a mass for me because he had too many in the morning to do!! so i had to get a family friend who is a priest come from another church (which i dont even know how much i will have to pay him to come) so i figured the parish priest would give me money off since NO ONE will be in the building and i am getting everyone myself (even altar attendants) but NO... still the same price as if the parish priest was doing the mass and providing the attendants!! how is that?!
i wanted to get married at another church i was so mad but this is the church i grew up in, i had my communion here and was confirmed here and i love the building itself. we used to have two great priests that were transferred to other parishes. plus, b/c i loved it so much my fh proposed to me in the gardens/courtyard of the church so we wanted to, of course, have it there b/c of that!!
my priest is a thief!! there i said it and now i'm going to hell and i'll probably see him there!!!

Re: Catholic church expence
Its such a shame that we are baptised, receive communion and confirmation and still have to pay to get married in a catholic church. FH feels its disgusting that the church wants money to marry people. We feel pre-cana is a good idea. I don't know if other brides feel the same.

FH was very nervous about pre-cana, but once we started the class and went through the 3 sessions, he looked forward to it and we both had a good time talking with one another. In the end, it made us stronger in love and heart about our own families and the one we're about to begin!

Our classes are until the middle of May. We too think it will help us make our relationship stronger. We feel its a real bummer about having to pay to be married.

Our church is $550...just the fee, nothing else included. It is so sad that you have to pay that much to get married in your own church!
