How much does it cost to get married in a catholic church. I just need a ballpark number so I don't have a heartattack when I go to ask my priest.
TIA

Re: Catholic church expence
Ours is $475 for the church, organist and singer.
We did pre-cana out of parish so that was an additional $155.

$450 - church, includes music etc. - even if we want to bring in outside singers/musicians, we'll still pay $450, plus whatever the other singers charge. not worth it to me $75 for pre-cana - which they have not cashed and they've had the check since january!!!

Its such a shame that we are baptised, receive communion and confirmation and still have to pay to get married in a catholic church. FH feels its disgusting that the church wants money to marry people. We feel pre-cana is a good idea. I don't know if other brides feel the same.
We feel its a real bummer about having to pay to be married.
Yeah I can't agree more. I didn't even think like that until the new priest at my parish (not the two I grew up knowing who were great) compained when we wanted a mass!! i thought that he would embrace and enjoy the fact that we feel a mass is important... same thing with pre-cana, we were so excited to talk about it and get his feed back and he didn't even want to talk to us. he told me i'd better make sure there were no baptisms on my date in a mean way AND he said he couldn't do our mass (like I said above) so i had to get someone else and he is still charging us 600 just to walk in the building. my parents have belonged to this parish since it's beginning when we were renting a room in a local deaf school!! they have paid so much money over the years and are part of the reason we had our beautiful church built and are no longer in the rented room! it just makes me really sad and put a damper on me and my FH being so excited about our church
