i have a family member who is a priest. He says this is a sin. If I do this he can not even attend. However I really do not want a whole big ceremony in a church.
SO instead my FH and I have to go to a church a week or two b4 the wedding to get married in achurch with 2 witnesses. then we will do a full ceremony at the RH. annoying!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Catholic question...
From wedding planning, I've found there's a lot of misconceptions about the Catholic Church. Here's what I've learned...
-There isn't a rule that applies across the board for many of the scenarios mentioned here. My mother was married in the Catholic Church once before she married my father. She did not get an annulment, so she and my father got married at their RH. Furthermore, they are both Christian and were married by a rabbi. Despite all of these factors, there were no issues with baptizing me.
-My godmother (technically Christian witness) is Protestant, and my godfather (technically Christian witness, but my Catholic grandfather stood in for him on the day of the ceremony) is Christian Science.
-I know people who were pregnant at the time of their wedding and it was not an issue to get married in the Church, and I know people who were not married when they had their children baptized. Again, none of this was an issue.
-Once a person is a priest, he is a priest for life. So you could technically have a retired priest marry you at the RH, but you will not be receiving the sacrament of Holy Matrimony-that is the difference.
-The communion issues aren't about people rejecting others. Catholics view the bread and wine as actually becoming the body and blood of Christ, while Protestants view them as symbolic of the body and blood of Christ. DH & I considered being married by a Protestant minister at the RH, and she said she could not offer communion because we have different beliefs about what the host and wine actually represent.

Re: Catholic question...
I would imagine this would deff depend on the church and how conservative they are.
I never even thought about this!

I was born and raised catholic... FH is a practicing Christian but has never been baptized. FH has to get baptized!!! This will be the hardest check of them all!!

Re: Catholic question...
My son is baptized Catholic, and when he was baptized I was single and my son's father isn't even Catholic. You will be fine! A priest will not marry you at a venue, I learned this when searching for someone to marry us at the RH. We ended up just getting an Officiant

Re: Catholic question...
Some churches may give you a hard time, but the status of the parents actually has no bearing on whether or not a child can be baptised.
